Fault code

Hello I have fault code: P007A-17.

It says "Charge air cooler temperature sensor circuit - Bank 1"

I thought this meant than the sensor in the throttle body was faulty, but from all I have read up on this, on my car (2013 - Fl2 SD4 Auto) they were removed and the sensor is now just blanked.

If this is the case, any ideas what to look at next? Theres no real obvious problem, but just having the fault code on a scan is kind of annoying. I have tried clearing the code, but it reports as permeant.

Thanks Mark

It refers to a sensor in the inlet side of the turbo charger, bank is the description of cylinders if you have a V engine you will have Bank1 and Bank2 my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Any idea which sensor it could be. I have replaced the one by the air box, but the fault remains.
Thanks.

As its a circuit failure indication, have you checked that the circuit is working correct?

This was on Google although I could not find the exact code in the Repair Manual.

So, I understand that the faulty sensor being reported is no longer present on 2012 cars onwards - it’s just blanked off.

So, if the car no longer has an Intake Air Temperature sensor, how does it calculate the intake temperature - surely it needs this? Is another sensor doing the job?

Thanks Mark

Please can you tell me where I can find the info you have on later FL2 changes.

The only description I have is for the original TD in the Repair Manual around page 1168. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

@Mrdeli100

Page 1238 of JLR manual (upto 2012) shows the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor on the throttle body.

"I thought this meant than the sensor in the throttle body was faulty, but from all I have read up on this, on my car (2013 - Fl2 SD4 Auto) they were removed and the sensor is now just blanked."

Have you actually looked to see if that is true ?

Ive got a 2014 SD4 but have not ever looked at the throttle body. Might check later today. Jules

Just had a quick look - I cannot see a IAT sensor on my throttle body. So, as you say, how is the intake air temp monitored ? Jules

Hi - yes mine is just a blank - I have seen on google someone else confirm this also.

They suggest that either the MAS or boost sensor are now measuring the temperature. Maybe this is giving the fault code.

I wonder also if the deletion of the sensor is just giving a 'false' fault code (I'm using Autel AP200 to scan).

Regards
Mark

I believe the IATS was moved to the outlet side of the intercooler. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a sensor on the outlet side of the intercooler. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Surely if it was on the outlet it couldn’t provide inlet temperature - unless of course some very clever algorithm is at play. It’s all pretty confusing to say the lease

Thanks mark.

If it's on the outlet side of the intercooler then it's on the inlet side of the inlet manifold which is exactly where it needs to be my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Ok - that’ sounds interesting then.

Any idea if there is actually a sensor there.

I can only see diagrams for earlier cars - it’s a like a needle in a haystack 🙈

In the Evoque workshop manual with the TD 4 engine the IAT and the MAF sensor are combined
