United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread - very helpful and interesting.
Have now settled on a Post Office 'Premier' policy, which seems to have all the usually extra-cost add-ons built in at just over £400 quid.Gets good reviews too.
Really grateful for all the input Bow down !
Thanks I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.

Thanks for that Glassman, I will be looking at Post Office before my next renewal.

I will compare with SAGA, but also it may enable me to trim my policy down to what I now realistically need as I do not drive all the miles I used to. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

Just got my renewal from Directline, up from £326 to £591.
Now 81. Have gone on go compare and moneysupermarket and best is £535.
Looks like being old you really get shafted. Still to go back and have a go at Directline.
Wish me luck. Jim A

Just had my renewal. Up 25% from £400 to £500. Reason ? Apparently the "cost of living crisis". Everyone else is squeezing the life out of us financially and the Insurance companies want their cut, too.
Sadly, despite using "specialised modified insurers" web sites to try and get it any cheaper, I've been flat out refused a quote, or it's been £900 +. So I have no choice but to go with my original insurer. I did negotiate a discount of £26.30. But they then tried to claw that straight back - and more - by asking whether I wanted "excess payment cover". Rolling Eyes

The little city car (sub 4k miles per year, no claims, no speeding tickets etc) is up for renewal in just under a week's time…

Currently insured with Aviva, it was £210.18, with the renewal quote up by 29.9% to £273.03.

A quick shop around gets exactly like for like (but with a £50 lower voluntary excess) for £228.57 from Halifax Still an increase on last year's premium but +£18 (8.7%) is much better than +£63 (29.9%).

I can’t wait for the FL2 renewal later in the year. It has been insured with Hastings for some years - will this be the final year? 🤔

One to watch perhaps… Tesco Insurance offered a similar low quote - which I saved while I looked at a couple others - when I went back to it a few minutes later, it had gone up by £36 to £264.
