United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Firenze Red

A crawler gear instead of a low ratio box would great and not too difficult with the vast number of gears modern boxes have. Jules

Re designed dashboard to make something more useful on the passengers side. A shelf or an upper glove box rather that just sloping plastic trim. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

3 door version. Suits me better. 90% of my journeys are just me , 9% are me and the missus, just 1 % with the mother-in-law or someone else occupying the rear seats. So, the commercial would suit my needs better than having rear seats but I don't need the extra rear side doors. Then I could fit an interior roll cage !!! It would have the added benefit of never having to take the MIL with us anywhere ! Result !!
Oh, wait -I seem to recall having something like that back in 2012.

that looks like a North conversion.

Disco 2 under a FL1/2 fibreglass mould.

It was the Tempest Alloys ..... that gave it away.

Is that why the length between wheel arches don't seem to fit the chassis wheelbase? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I think you should be looking at the 'Final Estate' model for those 1% of trips, I haven't seen a Si4FE as they're probably better in diesel for the extra torque!

I think it's an illusion created by the small profile tyres tucked under the wider arches and the camera angle. The chassis is a space frame and the wheelbase is 104" as per the Freelander 2. The running gear was , indeed, Disco 2.

The reason I never finished it was because I'd had it up with Dave Billings from Tornado Motorsport who builds off road racers. Someone from Protection and Performance was visiting, saw that Dave had it in his unit and told him to tell me to get rid of it PDQ. It turned out Protection and Performance were building the space frames for North and there had been a law suit from a customer regarding my exact vehicle which North eventually lost costing them dearly. After that it was never destined to go on the road unless I scrapped the spaceframe chassis and built it on to a Disco 2 and retained the Disco's i.d.. However, this brought up several other problems, including having to extend the wheelbase of the Disco chassis from 100" to 104" which would then lose me the i.d. and it would need an IVA which it wasn't guaranteed to pass. So I decided not to sink any more money in to it.
AFAIK there was only one other actually built which was North's prototype.
The guy who bought mine spent nearly 20K on it including putting an M3 BMW engine in the rear. He never finished it and it sold at a massive loss, getting £10500. A lot of money for a dedicated off roader that would never be allowed on the road.

This was mine just before I sold it.

This is the original prototype that did the rounds for many years.

And here it is again recently, after being resprayed.

Actually I take it back.
It must be the initial camera angle, as it looks pretty good from these other camera angles.

Anyone done a pickup on Freelander 2. I wouldn't think it would be an easy thing to do. Wish I'd never sold my Honda Acty.
