You have to remove the towing eye to fit a tow bar, then refit it afterwards. It's only secured by a few bolts, but it's easier to remove if the rear bumper is off. The RH hanger for the rear box is in the same area too, but I can't remember if it's part of the hanger, or bolted onto the chassis rail separately.
I've got a spare towing eye and bracket somewhere in my stash. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The replacement for the SE.

Ours was covered in surface rust when we got it and it really stood out against the otherwise nice clean looking rear end.

I just used a small wire wheel in the drill to clean most of the rust off, then I used some strips of wet and dry to clean it up further. I then coated it in hammerite rust converter. Then finally gave it a coat of black paint (lechler technogrip - as that is what I had at the time)

It didn't take long and has looked perfect ever since.

No need for primer with Hammerite on this surface. Just wire brush off and then 2 coats of hammerite.
Far easier than removal. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

Maybe for OEM towbars but not for my Witter one. Didnt need to remove the bumper either. Jules

I'm working under the car this week so will check the towing eye too. Jules

Yes I installed an OEM bar on mine, but only because it was a bargain, or I'd have fitted a Witter. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The replacement for the SE.
