Air Filter Box Screws

So...


...Whats the accepted way to get a better seal? What size and/or type of screws will work in holes that have lost most of their internal threads Rolling Eyes

Ah I was putting in the wrong search term... Rolling Eyes

Apparently "6mm x 40 mm coach bolts" will work a treat...


Never used helicoils, will go and have a look at what that involves Thumbs Up

Just slide a plastic cable tie inside the hole(s) with damaged threads and then use the old screws.
The plastic cable tie material is enough malleable and it will reduce/tighten the hole enough for the old screws to work OK.

I, for one, am in the same situation with you and at each service will use new cable ties... Laughing

Great idea! I actually bought a replacement scrap yard box that came with a Denso MAF (i6 original) and both work flawlessly. I now have a spare MAF sensor. In my specific case, the MAF screw threads were worn out likely by the previous owner. You solution is filed for any future need. Thumbs Up

I changed my air filter today & one of the threads was damaged tried your tip with the cable tie & it worked perfectly Bow down Bow down Bow down
