Just come across reference to the H7 version of these on the Disco4 forum & wondered if anyone here has tried the HB3 type in a late model FL2 & is able to share their experience? Not cheap bulbs but seem to have a lot going for them as a replacement for the halogen fitment.

At well over £100 you could buy 2x HID conversion kits which have had good reviews on this forum and have passed mot for those with projector lenses. I include myself.
I notice on the blurb a disclaimer saying that they are not street legal. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Thanks Tenet, I have tried the HID conversion based on recommendations from this forum & sent the kit back as the bulbs rattled in the holders in the headlight so no way were they ever going to work correctly! I'm sure they're also not street legal either, being non-type approved for the headlight they're installed in...what brand of kit have you got in yours out of interest?

I fitted the HIDS4U conversion kit and the car has passed 2 MOT'S. No rattles and I can now drive safely at night..

For any noticeable difference you need to apply the inverse square law. You need four times extra brightness to have a 200% increase in brightness. Not to forget a useful light pattern. No point have a pile of light 10 metres in front of the car & no improvement at 50 to 100 metres.

I see it all the time in Australia where all regulations seem to have gone out the windows where car headlights light up everything else than what they are actually originally designed for.

In my experience LED retrofits don't come close to HID in light output or focusing ability.
Yes modern cars have LED, but the LED emitters are designed to work in the headlamp assembly, which is a very different scenario to sticking an off the shelf LED bulb in a housing designed to incandescent lamps. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Good job I have a ready supply of the OEM HB3s... nearside has blown this morning!

Stealth kits obviously been a popular Xmas pressie as no stock in any of the HB3 variants on the HIDS4U website 😳

For those who have fitted them, do you out everything inside the light unit so the rear cover goes back on or do you need to stick bits to the outside & leave cover off for wires? - never got as far as that when I bought the kit before as sent it back when I discovered the bulbs rattled in the holders!

Any pics of installations in 2013 HSE 'signature LED' units much appreciated 👍

I was gifted 6 of these a while ago, I fitted a pair about 2 years ago now and they are still working and the improvement is very good when compared to the OEM fitment.
