Dash camera

Hello, all. Now have possession ofaFL2 10plate Td4 HSE auto.
Very pleased with it. Will miss my Disco2 but was becoming a money pit.
First question. Dash camera to be fitted. Where do you run the cable to and where to connect to power.?
Thank you Jim A

Hi, welcome to Freelander land. My camera is fed from the passenger footwell fuseboard using a piggy-back fuse, leading up the A-post and across the headlining to the camera position. I found this info on this forum. Hope this helps

From passenger fuse box to master switch next to glovebox & then to rear. I tapped the negative from the boot light. The USB adaptors are sitting under the left small easily removable trim panel in the boot if maintenance is required. I cable tied & taped the USB adaptors in 12v sockets so they don't fall out with road corrugations, which inturn soldered & heatshrinked to supply.

If you just want to do the front. Remove the A column trim panel, screw behind airbag logo. Drop front edge of ceiling a bit by removing left grab handle & sun visor. I pulled down the light panel, it just needs a bit of a firm tug around each edge. There is a hole at the front edge of the ceiling lining near the mirror to poke the cable through to do everything nicely. Make sure the cable goes behind the airbag. Unclip glovebox for better access to fuse box. Pull off door seal rubber gasket & pull off small trim panel so you can feed cable through this route. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thank you for the extremely helpful replies. They do sound a wee bit complicated . But a good look and time could help.
Bobupanddown, yeas Loved my Disc2 but just couldn’t keep up the costs.
The Freelander I bought has had the water pump and belt done, haldex overhauled and serviced, auto box serviced, not a mark on bodywork. I am now 79 and this maybe the last car I may buy.
Looking forward to my Freelander 2 esperience with all of you.

All the best from Scotland and hope we win today. Jim A

It is hardly difficult pulling trim panels off. Once you have pulled the trim panels off you will realise just how simply the car is assembled. Assembling a Lego kit is more complicated.

Plenty of photos here with trim panels off: https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33026.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I just ran my cable up the a pillar behind the door rubber seal and tucked it along the front edge of the headliner at the windscreen using a ruler to push it in. I was frustrated with the suction cup mount of the dash cam falling off regularly so bought one of these :

Hasn't fallen off since.

Great forum this, equally good to D2BC 👍 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Then the cable crosses in front of the airbag.
