United States 2008 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

My 2008 LR2 has the Drum/Disc brake setup

My 2010 S80 has EPB (First cousin once removed of the LR2)

I don't know who named this but is should be called EMERGENCY & PARKING BRAKE not electric parking brake.

I am pointing this out because lifting the lever/switch/actuator will bring my S80 to a FULL STOP.
It uses the ABS module to apply the brakes.

Here is what I would do

1. Try the Emergency Brake on a road with no traffic (note: your LR2 may stop without brake lights so be careful)

2. If activating the brake in step 1 does nothing then replace the EPB module. Its called an emergency brake for a reason. If it works as expected then do the hard battery reset, check the connections, verify the grounds, replace the fuses etc. (see above there are lots of good suggestions)

Good luck

Paul

Hi,
I've searched and some helpful posts but not managed to find an answer or solution.

FL2, 2014, probably one of the last of the models. Auto box.

Battery failed. Lots of flashing lights, dials stuttering etc.
Battery replace with a higher rate unit. Standard type, not AGM.

AA reset most of the warnings, but not the EPB fault warning.
The EPB operates fine. You can hear the motors actuating.
Put in/out of maintenance mode. No difference.

Had to take it to dealer to get it registered for the new battery. WTF!!!

Anyway. They say it needs a new EPB module. Even though it is working!
Are they taking the p*ss?

Not checked any fuses yet. Maybe I need to do that.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Sorry for my poor English language.
I had changed the Winter-Summer tires, and I had not updated the CCF with the Official diagnosis.
I used the EPB maintenance mode and then Write New EPB Module.
So I recalibrated the Electronic Parking Brake, so the error disappeared from the IPC.
Hope it helps. Freelander 2 Y13 TD4 SE - Alaska White
