Insurance

First post and some advice for what its worth. Took delivery of my FL2 last month and spent some time ringing around all of the insurers. Worst was Landrover (RSA) at £1700 and best was Liverpool Victoria (who also insure my house) at £540! Happy with that.

I guess it depends on your age and location. Mine is currently £237 fully comp for me and the wife, and this is with esure. Will change next year to Adrian Flux, he was only £40 more expensive but that will cover me for off-road use too which esure doesn't. ______________________

Big Cry Things can only get better I suppose the liverpool postcode and only three years NCB (I was distracted) will help. It just P****s me off that qoutes are so wildly different. in the mean time I am loving the FL2 and dont think I will ever change gear again!

NightFox's Handy Hint Number 137:

Add an additional named driver to your policy (preferably one who's got a good record), and for some reason it usually brings the premium down! Adding my wife to my policy saves my about £50/yr.

I'm with Direct Line, and despite the normal slagging they get, have to say they did a pretty good job for me when my first FL2 got written-off, albeit it took 6 weeks, but I don't think others would have been much quicker.

Most insurance companies won't cover you off-road, though I understand that NFU does and they seem to be pretty highly rated by 4x4 owners.

Got really p Censored ed off with elephant after the hassle with the auto box (a non standard item), the privacy glass (a non standard item, what is privacy glass for....), metallic paint, etc. So I changed to Admiral (yes, I know it's the parent company of elephant, but at least Admiral does not have Indian Elephants). Whistle So, I now have a multi car policy with Admiral...£184.44 fully comp for the Daihatsu for the missus and me, and £240.15 for me and the missus fully comp when the current elephant policy runs out in September 2008. Liverpool Victoria , through Whatcar came out at £248 for me and the missus it includes all of Europe fully comp without needing a green card, most policies are only third party in Europe and you need a green card and you need to notify them of when and where you are going and it also covers a courtesy car without notifying them at any time .This could be very useful for some unlucky owners

Sainsburys do a pretty good job for me for the last couple of years, Pay around £400, company car insured and registered in my name, (Company owner, me registered keeper which pops premium up) also blacked out windows and towbar. Wife insured to drive, free green cards, free loan car cover.

Thats with two claims, one a motorbike bouching off the dash board of the old car, and then the old car been written off 5 months after getting it back, both non fault parked on drive or road outside the house.

Paid for courtasy car (a FL1) for 5 months, whilst KIA made a new dashboard, and then a JEEP Grand Cherokee for a month whilst the payout for the second claim came through and the dealer got my FL2 ready.
