1. Unless mistakes are made how do people find out what works and what doesn't and how to fix things so good effort on this.

- Doing good research (more than a couple of hours)
- Asking questions of the right people
- Working in the industry for years
- Taking training courses
- Having knowledgeable people who can teach
- Applying a logical, slow approach

(For clarity, I can tick all of the above, still electronically break stuff)

only by making mistakes can we move forward and learn from them, just scary making mistakes on several thousand pounds worth of Land Rover Shocked

Vanny,
I've not seen the source vehicle so don't know if it was crashed or not.

If the circuit is open (creating the DTC), then assuming you haven't forgotten to plug them in, they've been in a crash. You need to look closely at the old and new one and you'll find the bearings have been fired and the cable pulled into the mech.

Just to confirm Vanny's suspicions, when I swapped the seats back for the original the DTC and warning light immediately disappeared. I examined both seats (and took a couple of photos as examples) and it can be plainly seen there is deformation on the older/electric seat.

Original/Manual:

Replacement/Electric:

Once I've got the MOT out of the way tomorrow I'll have a look at swapping the pre-tensioner/seat-belt buckle assy and let you know how it goes...on another thread probably Smile

The seat you replaced it is from a 2007 car , you can see in picture. I think this was the trouble.

Censored I think that's the most terrifying post I have ever read.
I have recently acquired a copy of SDD to check for DTC, too scared to use it now. Rolling Eyes Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
