I had a squeaking noise in the car, it turned out that 2 CD covers in the rear door pocket were the cause!

After getting over that embarrassment for many weeks, it was interesting that the sound never really seemed to come from that location.

I’ve replied to this thread but your post has reminded me of something I had forgotten. I had an annoying squeak from the back of the car it turned out to be around the rear door handle I packed it out with an old credit card and cut off the excess and it just went hence forgetting about it.

Now the original question appears to have been answered, I now look back to Alex’s post.

Well done, Alex, a man of Romanian tongue, quite correctly picks us up on our language. I am ashamed to agree, we have become lazy in our writing. That “aloud” as opposed to “allowed” grated with me. Another that riles me is the use of “breaks” when those devices designed to stop our cars as in “brakes” are intended. I know there will be some who wave the dislexia card, for that affliction, I sympathise.
Maybe Alex is right, that’s life innit?

To stop all squeaks outside the cabin install acoustic insulation. It works brilliantly! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

In Australia you will not hear squeaks on our roads.

Unfortunately, you supplied little extra information to enable others to offer any specific advice.

Squeaks occurring when traversing bumps can be caused by all manner things. For example:

Seats
Interior trim
Exterior trim
Springs
ARB bushes
Damper bushes
Other suspension components
Anything loose that shouldn't be
Things I havent thought of.

Fault tracing can be frustrating: Once, with my old Discovery, I kept finding the OS rear door window had dropped a few centimetres whilst driving to work. I spent hours taking the door apart to look for an electrical fault, only to eventually find it was my briefcase leaning on the switch when I went around a LH bend. Jules
