United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black
Almost new diff time!!

I've never been so excited about taking a car in to get a repair. Had it booked in at a local indy for a replacement Bell rear diff but have had to wait until they reopened thanks to lockdown.

The noise in the car is so annoying! I can't wait to get it sorted!

Although, with my luck I'll drive it out of there and find the noise is still there 🤣🤣 Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

Hi! Is it Bell Engineering where you're getting the rear diff replaced? I got mine done there a couple of weeks ago and he was excellent! Only took a couple of hours to change and it drove perfectly afterwards, no annoying noise from the rear diff which was driving me mad Laughing Unfortunately (and totally unrelated) my clutch and flywheel decided to destroy itself on my long drive home! Big Cry Very expensive month for me!

No, getting to and from Bell was out of the question for me, what with childcare etc. But a local indy sources their diffs from him and although it costs a little more it is far more convenient. Learned to drive in 2011.

New diff in. No noise! It's amazing how quiet it is and how much noise you get used to.

Couple of drop links replaced and new discs and pads at the front.

Drives like a new car now ❤️ Learned to drive in 2011.

Plus it was one of Austin Bell's diffs, which makes me happy. But with the convenience of being done a few miles outside of Edinburgh 😁 Learned to drive in 2011.

This has to do with the "fault balance" found on most Land Rover... If you repair something, something else will soon fail..
I replaced the clutch and DMF a month ago. Now its time for a new throttle body. I will not try to guess whats next on the list....

I've been playing that game since I got the car 🤣🤣

Fuel sender electrics first, then transfer box, then throttle body, then clutch and DMF and now diff. Learned to drive in 2011.

She doesn't mind 🤣 she knows her new car, which costs nothing to maintain, costs a lot in lease payments each month 🤣 Learned to drive in 2011.

I fear my FL2 is coming close to biting the bullet on the diff too.. Very noisy after a round trip from Dorset to the lake District.. bracing for the cost!

How long did you put up with the noise for? Mines been a little rumbly since December. Mot in September and wandering if it will fail on the noisey diff?

Probably about a year. Slowly got worse and I knew it could eventually cause some real damage. Learned to drive in 2011.

I was just thinking of all of the cars that I and my extended family have owned and run in the last 50+ years that I have been driving and the only one with a diff problem was the FL2. Very poor state of affairs really and apparently still occurring in Evoques? Crying or Very sad 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

I suppose you could argue that the FL2 is probably one of the heavier and more complex vehicles, so may be more prone to issues. Although on the flip side the parts should be of a rating to cope as such. Learned to drive in 2011.
