Lockdown jobs

Hi Everyone. Just thought I’d put some of the jobs I’ve done during lockdown to my recently acquired 2012 SD4 HSE.
The vehicle was a Land Rover vehicle for a while before passing into private hands. It has 49000 miles on the clock and a full LR service history.
There is more rusting of the sub frames than I would have expected so I suspect that it has been as a off road experience drive, there is a also little more wear on the drivers seat than the miles suggest.
First job was washing of the sand and mud underneath the inner wings. A grit blast on the rusting and then a thick layer os Waxoyl.
The vehicle had a recent service so after reading all the hints and tips on this and other web sites I set about changing all the oils.
Rear diff oil was dark but not black, easy to drain with a100ml syringe with some small bore silicon tubing on the end and managed to get out about 500ml or so.
Pulled down the Haldex unit to change the filter and clean the pump filter. Bit of a Censored to do but could do it again in half the time. The oil was very dark, the pump screen filter was half way clogged and the round fine filter was black. There was also signs of the black jelly type glug in the oil and filters so gave the whole thing a wash in brake cleaner and a blast through with the compressor.
The next job was the auto box oil. This fluid can only be part changed, without a professional expensive flush through. The oil was very dark so I will be doing it again in 500 miles. It was again easy to get the oil out using the syringe method and then when I remembered I had it using my vacuum Sealey brake fluid change kit.
The transfer case was fiddly and messy to drain but I managed to get around 500ml from it. Again the oil was dark coloured.
Finally the power steering fluid. Having read that on earlier models that swarf from the steering rack can block the round mesh filter in the fluid reservoir I decided to change the fluid reservoir as it’s only £24. That was the was the easiest job, sucked out the fluid from the reservoir and with the engine running and kept sucking it out until the fluid was nice and red.
The filter in the old reservoir was clogged with black swarf for the first top quarter so worth changing. Also suggests that mine steering rack might be one of those that were fitted without being properly cleaned in manufacture.
All in all it’s clear to me that there is no way these oils are ‘lifetime’ or as I read elsewhere 200000km. I’m also sure that a lack of oil and filter changes contribute to early component failure, as one might expect.
Not forgetting the other jobs completed, detachable tow bar and electrics fitted, front brake pads changed, front passenger door lock motor changed. Rear tow hitch camera fitted. TM4 engine temp Watchdog gauge fitted (removed from my old disco 2)
Just need to get this lockdown out of the way so that I can start enjoying driving the bloody thing.

You've been busy!
I'm doing my autobox oil this weekend but plan to drain and refill with the same amount initially then remove oil cooler pipe and run the engine to replace several litres at a time from the torque converter until I have new oil coming out. That should have the most of it changed with minimal waste. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
