United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Originally, the grant was for anybody who wanted to be ready for the Electric Car Revolution.

Admittedly, as they announced that they were tightening up on who could qualify, it was very hard to find an installer.
I had to pay a bit extra to get an installer to travel from a different area.

After being impressed, some while before, by the Peugeot 308 Diesel Hybrid, I became very keen on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, but the economics did not work for a private owner compared with a straight Diesel SUV.

So the 32amp Car Charger sits on the wall, regularly radioing back to base, saying that it is unused ----YET. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Land Rover if you ask me are doomed they have out priced themselves with inferior reliability vehicles for years & now with the economic impact of this virus they will not survive, the next 10yrs are going to be tough ask yourself would you buy a Land Rover where you can buy a Kia Hyundai or Subaru for 1/3 cheaper with 5+ yrs warranty.

Would I buy another Land Rover --Yes.

I have had 2 FL2s over the last 8 years, - my XS SD4 only had a couple of minor repairs /replacements of parts, and this Metro has had a new battery. Neither has let me down over about 100k miles. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Yes but just take a look @ what a new LR would set you back compared to Japanese 4x4 Whistle A basic bottom of the range Evoke will set you back near £35,000.

Hybrid DS (from what I have read in Autocar, and other sources)

I am wondering what the 3 cylinder will sound like, and it's refinement, as LR quote 'inherent character is something we've worked really hard to migrate', 'we've done some special work on the (engine) mountings in 18 months'.

For what it's worth my wife's Suzuki Swift has a 1 litre 3 cylinder petrol auto and it is surprisingly quiet and smooth and it has a low pressure turbo. It has a lot of low level torque and just cruises along at about 1600 rpm most of the time. Another point of course, is that the engine is more compact and much lighter. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had 2 Hyundai’s before I bought LR. I’m about to order my 11th LR, kinda answers your question.

I’ve had issues, those on Disco4.com that followed my Velar thread will know. Looked at other cars BMW, Volvo amongst others but its still Land Rover for me. I wouldn’t be happy with anything else.

£40k for a new Santa Fe or £45k for new Defender 110. It’s £5k well spent in my eyes.

XC60 starts at £40k DS starts at £32k 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I've always paid cash for a car. Can't see the point of borrowing money & paying higher insurance premiums. It's my car & I can modify it a much as I want. It can get covered in stone chips & it doesn't matter. Reality of country Australia & let alone the proper outback. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Around 90% of all new car sales (private cars) in the UK are on PCP. I made a comment when I bought my FL2 to the dealer sales guy years ago “ I must be in the wrong job as I have never seen so many people driving’s about in new Range Rovers Crying or Very sad ” he chuckled his reply was ( do you really think they own these cars ? that’s the beauty of PCP)

Australia it's about 85%. I bet some of them will be pretty nervous with unemployment heading to 15 - 20% & years for recovery to crawl back. I saw it around 1990 here, it went on for years. Great if you had a job, horrible if you didn't. I was one of the lucky ones! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

People at our place replace their BMW Audi, LR every couple of years - it's a status thing. They seem OK with waving goodbye to £400 pm, or whatever it's costing them, just to have something nice and shiny outside.
We're NHS so they're certainly not funding out of annual bonuses Rolling with laughter

One of my sons first job was for a High St bank in their business division. He was initially amazed at how the people with the flashiest cars and lifestyles were generally totally owned by the bank and that some of his scruffiest clients driving old cars were very rich indeed but you wouldn't have guessed it 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I get around with torn shorts, holes in my t-shirts & no tread on my sandals & own a Land Rover from the pauper end of the spectrum! Others is our building are nicely dressed, have cleaners, are eating out constantly & they rent, it's a pattern I've noticed over the years. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I once worked for a IT company with a subsidiary in South Africa in a large office block. One of the employees actually owned the block but had a not very senior job there. Apparently it led to some interesting meetings whenever the rent and his salary was reviewed! 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
