silver and . . . .silver Tailgate swap

Yes I am well aware of the different shades available to many cars within specific colours . . . . Idea

BUT, I have a 07 freelander 2 in zermatt silver, the boot handle is getting a bit tatty with body rust at both sides on tailgate and the actual rear tinted glass is showing its age, there is a complete 2012 tailgate with new style boot handle and white brake light on fleabay . . . . Wink

The question is, its indus silver ! How far away is that from zermatt . . . . has anyone had any experience of seeing both shades together ? Shocked Shocked

I have scoured google to try and get a colour chart with both on to look at but failed. Big Cry 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

You need to see the colour in the flesh. Two similar colours can look quite different simply if the lighting colour temperature is changed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

both silvers will not be the same as factory now anyway, with sun bleaching, paint fade, scratches from washing etc so they may well look fairly similar now.

if you can then buy it, compare it, and if not happy with it then resell it or butcher it for spares

all good answers (in different ways), every example I have tried to look at online looks very similar, I agree reality could be different, I also think after years of 'weathering' it could like RogB suggests bleach them more alike.

the item is 111 miles away from me and pick up only, would I be correct in thinking it would be a straight swap . . . .a 2012 tailgate on a 2007 body ? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

Canada 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

I bought one once for my daily driver before this LR2 and it would need to be, at the very least, on a skid and well protected and wrapped. A crate would be ideal and insurance if economically viable. Could get pricey......

hmm, yes I am beginning to go off the idea , Rolling with laughter

the item itself is the entire tailgate containing wiper and motor new (to me) clear brake light and new (to me) upgraded handle as well as a spoiler (which I already have) for £170 . . . .BUT, delivery and fitting would boost this into silly money i guess

I have used Paisley Freight for moving alloys with no issues, I believe that they will also move parts as well.

There is a thread where someone else mentioned another company that they had faith in but I can not find the thread. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black

thanks CJ, I have heard that name before.

I tried a site called Shiply, where loads of van people chip in with a price, started at £72 then got about 18 prices, each trying to outdo each other, best so far is £59 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

I have just had a heavy plan chest sent from Cheshire to Aberdeen at a cost of £80
A service where all couriers bid for your job.
BUT a lump like a tailgate is big and heavy and needs careful handling

If you where a courier what would you want?
You are never going to get it moved for less than 60/80 quid

The company I used was called Shipley, they are an agency for the couriers, you can see there feedback .
Good luck

Ha ha
I see my post crossed with yours.
I can recommend Shipley as all went well with my delivery last week
The carrier I used was called "Willan"
He goes from England to Aberdeen area and back every week
