2.2 Crank pulley bolt.

HI Landrover Gods.

Need to change my crank pulley on my 2.2 (its drumming like my old TD4)
Anybody know if there is any special procedures to replace this. The 2.0 TD4 just needed a lot of convincing to move the bolt. Not sure if the 2.2 has to be timed?

Cheers Smile

The FL1 TD4 problem is caused by the damper breaking down - Not sure that the FL2 has this damper....

Anyway, to change the FL2 pulley you will need to remove the starter motor and lock the engine (Locking kit is 3 parts and is about £30 and locks the flywheel x 2 and the camshaft x 1).

You should not need to re-time the engine.

You'll also need a new pulley bolt.

Search on here for timing belt change diy as its all in there. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Cool thanks.

To lock the engine, is that just so the bolt can be undone? Could I not just spin it off with a gun? Wink

You may be able to do it with a gun - I've no experience of them at the sort of torque levels required.

However, if you look at the timing belt change diys you will see that the torqueing up procedure is very precise and I cant see how you could do that with a gun. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Cheers for the replies guys. Turns out it wasn’t as per my old td4. This time just the aux belt tensioner 👍
