Do the sound proofing at the mirror mountings it makes the motors a fair bit quieter & the remaining sound has a more quality feel to it.

Brand new L322 BSM mirrors with Electrochromatic & heating are quite expensive so I took a calculated risk and found a used pair for half the price. Good plan if they are as described “as new”, luckily this time it was a good move!

Unfortunately for me the electrical schematic for the wing mirror connectors don’t show which of the 3 wires are ground, status or Alert circuit.




So applying a 12v supply to each circuit assuming black was ground confirms the correct combination.

Orange/blk - Alert Status





Red/blk - System Status




So bit more harness wiring to be done and then a system check with one of the modules on the CAN.

Currently I have the “Side Object Detection” enabled in my CCF but the system is indicating “Not fitted” which is not surprising or unexpected as I’ve seen this before with the same set of circumstances.

I have these fitted to my xf, functionality looks the same, if you need anything let me know, I've got a copy of sdd, but my cables not genuine so don't want to risk writing anything, but if you want me to pull any data I can.

I'm no where near the same level as vanny with his set up, but I use a raspberry pi and a PiCAN 2, the linux kernel has integrated support for can bus now, so its got some pretty cool tools built in to filter out messages. The manual page for it si here

again its not on vanny's level but its cheap enough and gets the info! (also its quite handy running on a pi as you can use it to inject your own messages and leave it connected, and is easily tucked up in the car)

So today’s objective was to put the SODL (Side Object Detection Left Module) on the CAN and test the floor and door harnesses.



First thing was to check to see that the SODL was registering on the CAN which it was and BCM registering “Fitted”



Left hand mirror status LED was illuminated. All good sofar.

Unfortunately that’s where it stopped.

No error messages in the command centre or options for “Side Object Detection” both I would have expected. One DTC was recorded for “Side Object Detection” but no information available and when I did a “clear dtc’s” it didn’t return.🤔

So my early hypothesis is that the BCM has the SW but the FCIMB (command centre) doesn’t.

Next step is to go for a drive with the module on the CAN to see if that makes a difference as the system doesn’t kick in until 25kph and system will only do Diagnostics after an accumulation of 2 minutes above that speed. I’m expecting this to be an outside chance of being successful as I’d at least expect an “unavailable” message even though the SODR is not present. I’m making the assumption that the system doesn’t need both SODL & SODR modules being online to kick the system into action?🤔

So next step is to finish floor harness and do a test drive otherwise I’m open to any good suggestions  MY15

Have you enabled reverse traffic detection or just blind spot monitoring? Either way there should be a menu section to enable/disable the feature.

My evoque has all the wiring in the bumpers with the mounting brackets. Led wiring all the way to the mirrors connector.

New mirrors or glass is easy. Sourcing the right 8 pin modules is another story

Oh and you’ll need both modules online for it to work. It’ll self test on power up illuminating the leds.

Yep I’m aware it’s not in the mirror. New mirrors have already been sourced.

The wiring for the led’s is complete from the BSM’s to the connector the mirror plugs into behind the door card.
