same as mine then, September 2012 on a 62 plate, ive had a 2013 model and the only thing I miss really is the Meridian head unit as its much easier to use than the Alpine branded system.

Like you say, less troublesome headlights too as my 2013 kept blowing bulbs. Ive already upgraded the main/dipped/side bulbs in this one so they are spot on Very Happy

i bought the Ring H4 and H7 from Advanced factors, sponsor on the site.

so far no problems but then i wasn't expecting any as they are not the HB3 projector style lights.

Not had a chance to try them out in the dark yet but they give out a whiter crisper light so should make a good difference in a few months when the days shorten

I am getting dead confused here (not difficult I know).......all this talk of busted bulbs etc and the type of lamps they affect.

Is that the NON AFS Projector lamps are the bu99ers that have HB3 bulbs and are the type that break so often?

And I assume the reflector (non projector) lamps take the H4 bulbs and are no problem?

Correct? Regards

David

the later projector headlights, where there is only 1 bulb for dipped and main, are HB3 and they have a shutter that comes down over the bulb to direct the light for dipped/main. The problem is that the shutter retains the heat around the bulb which results in overheating and failure.

these came in in the 2013MY facelift, and were also fitted to the earlier Evoques which suffered the same problem.

OK.....one more question, you say “later” projection headlamps, what bulbs did the early projector headlamps have then?

Mine has projectors but AFS HiD type, and I wouldn’t be without them Thumbs Up Regards

Hang on, do you mean before the face lift with the DRL LEDs in the headlamps the FL2 had just dip projector type and main beam was by the inner main lamp like mine? So in effect the projector was halogen but not a bi-ode type just dip?

I think I am getting there now Laughing Regards
