cant remember if the LR warranty allows you to go to any VAT registered garage. If they do then Austen @Bell will be your best bet for peace of mind but you may have to pay him up front and then claim back from the warranty.

A couple of FL2s ago I had a problem with a rear diff type noise. I was on extended warranty. I took it into the dealers and said we will have to book it in for next week and we will need it for a day or two. When I went in they had the paperwork ready but didn't show it to me and the guy went away for a few minutes so I had a look and it looked to me as if they had inflated the problem (like new rear diff etc) and the bill was around Β£4.5k. Any when I got the car back they had done the rear diff bearing and the transfer box and all was well.
My reading of the situation was that they were trying it on as the customer is not going to complain or even know about it. All that mattered to me was that I wasn't asked for any money. I have had several claims with LR warranty and never had a query. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It looks as if you can use another garage after gaining prior permission

I know to my cost when a very long time ago I had an alternator fail on my Motor Caravan alongside a
remote loch in Scotland. In the days of scarce communications and no mobile phones I was lucky to contact the AA and a patrolman found me and fitted a new alternator.
However when I returned to home I contacted the warranty firm and was told as I had not contacted them prior to the repair I could not claim back the cost of the item (the labour for the AA fitting it was free).
If I remember correctly the company was called 'The Ultimate'. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

IIRC most (if not all) warranty companies will authorise work at one of their recommended garages without the need for an engineers visit to confirm if the failed part is covered or not.
If you go to a garage that is not on their list then they need to send out an engineer to assess and report before any work can commence. However it can take a couple of weeks to get an engineer there.

I fell foul of this when I claimed for my clutch/dmf/slave against my warranty wise cover (and yes I know ive just signed up back with them). My garage took the clutch and dmf out, called WW, who could only send an engineer out 2 weeks later. So it had to go back together, and I had to drive it around until the due date, take it back to the garage who took it all apart again, their engineer agreed it was covered, but their claims department then said as I had driven it around after the initial call from my garage, then it was my fault it had failed and refused to pay out. No interest in their delays or anything but I suspect this is why they do it.

once bitten twice shy, if I have to go through it again, then I will leave my dismantled car at the garage and beg/borrow/hire/steal a loan car until they inspect it and its sorted.

If a main dealer is willing to scam Land Rover & carry out unnecessary work @ over inflated prices just imagine the tricks they pull on a typical customer Censored

More likely the valve in the inlet going from closed to open - tiny little motor running a tiny gear against a much larger plastic gear. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

That's what it sounds like, thanks Andy Thumbs Up

Sorry to restart this but this like a whirring or as above valve /pump working after car has stopped is it meant to be there as to be honest I've only noticed it since haldex pump was replaced?

( Checked underneath and nothing else has fell off, just to clear any queries up ) If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
