You have probably the most reliable, Land Rover have ever produced in their whole range, so just enjoy it. Take a look over on the Disco site to cheer yourself up Laughing

I think this guy has summed it up very well, the FL2 is very basic compared with the Evoke, DS sport, Range Rover sport etc hence far fewer things to go wrong.

the Evoque is just a late model FL2 with a different body and interior.... same engine (in 2.2 form at least) same transmission, same suspension, same electronics, same tech. The auto gearboxes are different (Aisin for the FL2 and ZF for the Ewok) so the reliability on the 2.2 Ewoks should be on a par with late 2013> FL2.
The 2.0 Ingenium is still really in the debugging stage, so will no doubt be a bit problematic for a little while yet IMO.
The more worrying part is the build quality and reliability of components of newer/current models.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Just seen my post from 5 years ago, I’ve still got my Freelander and glad that I kept it.
No big bills or major problems and it tows my caravan with ease and does a good few miles in forests on rally marshalling.
Water pump and timing belts done plus 2 Haldex services at Bell Engineering. Gearbox, PTU and diff oils being changed at my next service, got to say it’s been relatively cheap to run😊 64 plate TD4 SE Santorini Black

Pleased to hear it!
I owned three FL2’s, from 2011 to 2015 and moved on to Disco 4’s and a Full Fat RR. But, when I needed a 2nd car in April, I jumped at the chance of abother FL2 and now run a 2011 FL2, alongside the Fatty. Very happy with both cars.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

When I changed my 2010 XS SD4 - bought 2012 - in 2017 I had a look around at several alternatives, but I decided to buy the latest, best equipped FL2 I could find - my present SD4 Metro.

I had become addicted to the high, comfortable driving position, and pleasant, easy journeys that the FL2 provides for my wife and myself.

--- Touch Wood --- the two SD4s have provided me with 11years of driving without any major fault, or much inconvenience.

Perhaps in retrospect I may have wasted money in covering my Metro with an extended warranty but I like the feeling that any problems that do occur are the worry for Land Rover or the AA, and not me.

Although my budget for change of about £30k (plus part exchange) is beginning to allow me to look at some 'high riding' PHEV's with air suspension (XC60, RRS) and the Luxurious EV I-Pace, I feel that I will be driving my FL2 for some time yet.

The Metro still scrubs up well!

It certainly does scrub up well Thumbs Up

Not normally a fan of white cars, but the FL2 looks pretty good in white, especially with the privacy glass.

Ours has now done 168k and still runs superbly.. rear shocks, couple of wheel bearings, pair of rear callipers and the worst was the transfer box but overall brilliant and more importantly a safe car!

Would love another low mileage one …. Alas Ulez may be the death of ours…

I have been looking at moving my 75k miles SD4auto XS 14 plate on for about a year. Nothing wrong with it and still under extended warranty but I have never owned a car that's 9 years old and the ULEZ thing will cause me grief every time I go to Heathrow to pick up or drop off family. I thought about the XC40/60 but didn't like the way that everything is on menus on a touch screen so have been looking for a petrol DS that has the right spec and 18" wheels due to rough terrain and potholes where I live. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

A generation ago, well 40ish years ago, 9 year old cars were just about ready for the scrappers, rusty body and engines done before 100000 miles. Now a rusty car is unusual, engines can run to 300k with care. My 2014 Freelander has 108k on it now and because i pamper it, it looks like a 3 year old. Does look a little dated granted compared to current cars but I can live with that. Barring any circumstances beyond my control I plan to keep it for another 5 years / 70k miles. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Our 2 daily drivers are both 13 years old (fl2 & Jag x type estate). Both have just passed their MOT with no work required. One has 110 k miles the other 165k miles.
My other car, which lives outside under a carport, is 23 years old, Jaguar XKR, and has just under 100k miles.
I intend to run them until I am forced to change them by the powers that be. More and more places are cropping up with the clean air zones.

Having sold my extremely reliable 2012 SD4HSE in Cyprus( why bring it back when I can achieve another 5K) and moving to Spain. the options in Spain are like hens teeth and prices out of this world, I have settled on a Mazda CX9 3.7 petrol with a LPG conversion, it has all the bells and whistles of a Disco 4 HSE without the air suspension, Zenon, Nav, front and rear cameras opening sun roof and power tailgate 270BHP and only 68K miles , I really wanted another FL2 but practicalities says this is the better bet my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
