I had something like this on my last MY2011 at 64k miles which would go into reduced engine performance mode. LR assist came out and found P0546-00 (exhaust gas temp sensor high bank 1 sensor 1), and a nearly split hose on DPF. The car went into the dealer and new sensor and hose fitted. All OK for about 5 months then it happened again, this time LR Assist found P244A-96 the same sensor had failed again. This was then replaced under extended warranty and all was OK after that until I traded it in about a year later. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Sensor

Dan at Duckworth's supplied me the whole sensor and pipe kit today. Duly fitted, re-set the dpf pressure with the code reader and just been out for a drive to road test it. No spluttering, half throttle to full throttle for overtakes and it did nothing out of the ordinary.
Fingers crossed Neutral

Part number for reference is LR070166

Code B100A

Nope, that code still pops up on the reader. Maybe it's been there for ages.

Code P2456 then P244A help needed

Hi all,

I've posted in this thread as i think it builds upon what's here. I need some guidance let me explain.

FR2 My 2011 ED4 GS 116k miles

Beginning of the week i got the "reduced engine performance" on the dash while driving on the M62 to home, as the motorway was busy i dropped from 6th doing 65ish to swap lanes when it clicked in ...i "limped home" not too much of a hardship except slow acceleration.

It was showing last regen 653 miles ago

I have a carsoft reader the LRv2 it read initially both codes ..i did a liitle research that evening and decided to clear the codes and see what happened ...not much was the answer codes cleared and dash back to normal but lasted about 10 miles then dash warning again ..code read was P2456 this time ... so I did some more research and decided to see if i could clear the code and then get it to do a regen incase that was the problem ...cutting a long story short i was able to after clearing codes a few times and feathering the revs just over 3000 in 4th gear to 70mph on a local motorway and ran it for 30 mins like that, then pulling off from the island as i left the motorway REP came back ..the odd thing is that now i seem to get the P244A code (DPF differential pressure too low Bank 1) alternating with the P2456 code (DPF differential pressure sensor - circuit intermittent/erratic) almost each time that the 'REP' reappears and i then clear it, they are no longer appearing together I'm only getting 1 fault code now.

I've also had a look at the lower rubber pipes that i read and saw could split they look & feel fine ... so now what would you suggest i do ?

Ideas and suggestions gratefully received ...my thoughts would be to check further the sensor the other pipes and connector ..does that seem right ?

I'm a bit on the clock as the MOT is due on 9th July and I'm assuming that REP is a fail so it needs sorting prior ?

many thanks

Mine did something similar. Turned out to be a faulty DPF sensor (the pipes were fine). The fault was identified by reading live data from the sensor.

Thanks JonMs ,

I bit the bullet yesterday and orderded a new sensor with all the pipies from Rimmers, now all i've got to do once it arrives weds is to figure out how to change them over and see if that does the trick ... any directions or threads I've missed that show how to do it greatly appreciated

I can check the live data using the ICarsoft but as I'm a newbie at all this what sort of info am i looking for to understand that it is the sensor ? I can get it to show a wave oir record ? guidance would be appreciated

I'm afraid I can't be much help because my DPF sensor fault ocurred shortly after I bought my car so it was fixed under warranty by the LR specialist that I bought it from. I know that there was no failure in the pipes, it was a problem with the sensor itself and my understanding was that the live output from the sensor was erratic, even at idle.

I am also fairly sure that the DPF sensor needs to be calibrated using SDD or autologic or whatever before use.

I have a GAP IID BT tool and if is helpful to compare the output from my sensor vs. yours at idle then give me a shout.

Hi JonMs,

thanks for the offer of help, yesterday i managed to get a good inspection of the upper rubber hoses and found a small split in one of them by feeling with my bare fingers as the split was on the side facing away from my vantage point looking upwards from under and in the wheel arch.

I'd taken the wheel off and the wheel arch liner , so after around 3 hours and rather scraped knuckles plus the use of a hose clip opener with a long reach flexible wire to be able to get at the clips, good news today as took the hippo for a 30 mile motorway drive having cleared the code REP ..code P244A with my icarsoft first and no issues and even a regen occured so all seems good so far ..

I'm thinking that it will be sensible to hang onto the new sensor that i ordered from Rimmers and pehaps have it fitted ? when I'm having some major work done to the car like the 150,000 mile cambelt service ..

That's good news. For reference, my DPF sensor failed at 80k. MY2011, SD4. I don't know if it's a particularly common fault though (split pipe is!).
