United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Interesting eskdale, I'm sitting in service reception waiting for the heater repair. They told me it would take two hours, may be less, so I agreed to a while you wait job.

When booking the car in I mentioned that I'd had a couple of flat battery issues (by coincidence) since the fuse was removed and asked them to check the battery. When I suggested that I had heard (through this good forum) that the flat battery may be linked to the heater problem she laughed at me and and was totally dismisive of any information I might have picked up from here.

She was setting up for an arguement, which she has done before, but this time I couldn't be ar5ed to pursue it. She is one of a couple of folks here that make coming to this dealership an unpleasant and stressful experience. Not the way to treat customers when business is tough ... Stornoway Grey GS ... i think most dealers have a attitude towards forums, my dealer seams to dismiss everything i point out to them regarding my car, even if it fixes something. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It makes you wonder what has to happen before the penny drops with some dealer employees. I don't want to hold them to ransom, or make unreasonable demands but if they pi55 us off enough (especially in the current climate) our custom goes and so do their jobs ....

Anyway back to this morning I'm now back home and I'm told my heater is back to normal, just need soem frost to test it out. Job took just two hours, have looked under the bonnet for signs of what has been moved, nothing apparently! Dashboard doesn't appear to have been disturbed either!

Battery tested Ok, so no action taken, still carrying the portable power pack. If it happens again I might call LR assist to get the problem 'logged', if I'm not pushed for time. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

Ask her something really technical before you leave, that you already know the answer to.

When she flummoxes around and finally says she will have to check with the mechanic, just say "No it's ok, I just wanted to know if you knew everything as you seem to think you do, but you DON"T DO YOU YOU BLOODY RECEPTIONIST!!"

Or something..... Twisted Evil

Or you could just leave it Whistle

Thats what I did, I had taken my laptop with me so I could get on and work while I was waiting, so had plenty to keep me busy. Also when it came time to hand the back she had gone on her lunch and I know the guy that handed it back, he's great.

We had a quick chat about the woes of the car industry, he told me that Jaguar had already planned to finnish off the X type next summer, apparently Jag are fed up trying to get away from the notion that the X is a Mondeo in a Jag skin so they plan to exit that sector of the market in favour of other more expensive models further up the price range Stornoway Grey GS ... Good news !!!!

Just taken the beast out for a brief local run to test the heater repair ...

Temp indicating 5c, engine not run for nearly eight hours so can be called cold (though obviously not freezing!)

Start engine, select max temp on both dials, set to full auto, econ mode on and off we go. Within 1 minute warm air detected through the screen vents. Within two - three minutes warmth quite noticeable.

Happy to report back to normal. Thumbs Up Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

As there doesn't seem to be any "dooon Souf" comments on this thread relating to the availability of the new heater, I thought I would add my 2 penneth for the sunshine county boys.

I called Guy Salmon (Maidstone) today and they advised that "Yes the new part is now available"

I cannot find the time to get to them for the replacement to be fitted before Christmas, so it's booked in for early January. At least it gives me time to view all of your comments to know if anything goes wrong Thumbs Up

I wonder how long it would have been before they called me? Rolling Eyes FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Well I've had the FL2 a week, and am sat waiting for them to fix a problem. Had the recall done and it seemed to be working fine. As I pulled away from the dealership, I noticed that the gate button on the auto transmission was jammed. I could move the leaver up and down with no lock to prevent me from doing this. So here I am sat in the dealership as they strip it down, hoping no other issues develop. Censored
