Faulty Key Fob Report post
Hi there. Not used my spare fob for a while, so thought I'd charge it up. Opened car with usual fob then inserted spare into ignition and started car..Fine.. Locked up and had to press it a couple of times but worked eventually. Used it for a few days but repeatedly had to press a couple of times to lock...To unlock press to open door, then press again to open all doors, it opens the windows. sometimes it will open the doors but mostly opens the windows without holding it down.....any suggestions please? Thanx. Freelander 2 2019 2.2 diesel.

could well be the battery is on its last legs and sadly is not just a case of open the fob and switch the battery like in the post 2013 models.

user RRUK on here refurbs them for a very reasonable price, search in the for sale/wanted section as he has a thread in there.

2011 D4 XS 8 speed - Orkney Grey, 2014 front end facelift, black pack
2012 '62' SD4 Auto Sport LE - Barolo black with black/ivory interior, - now gone, missed the modern interior tech pack

Most likely a dicky battery or, the connection to the PCB, sometimes these snap when a key is worn, and therefore work intermittently.

Only way to know is to cut it pen and start all over again, new battery and case. I will PM you Sir.

Hi RRUK, I opened up my key fob, tested the battery and it showed 3.2v on my good quality Fluke multimeter. Would that indicate that the issue is not with the battery itself? The fob has been working intermittently.
If it’s not the battery then would do you think is the best thing for me to do?
My other fob is knackered too.

It arrived back today looking good.
