Forget watches to the nearest second, we have two ovens one above the other both with clocks. SWMBO was really annoyed that they weren't set to the second, one would show 12:30 and the other 12:31 for about 15 seconds until they caught up. Seconds apparently matter - me I wouldn't care if they were minutes adrift, who manages their day to the nearest minute or five? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

I do actually. I wind the church clock up every week and use an app on my phone to an atomic clock to set it a few seconds slow, it gains about 20 seconds a week so I manage it that way. It's important that it doesn't run slow as it's a hell of a job to make it catch up and the bells get out of sequence etc.

Many years ago I knew a vicar who was an horologists. He had clocks everywhere all different types. When in the vicarage, 5 mins before the hour and 5 mins after the hour, his home would ring out the bells/chimes. Smile

My G-Shock is automatically set to radio signals so is always absolutely spot on,. My Speedmaster will lose about a second a month so I don’t bother with that but my Seamaster can gain three or four seconds a day so I constantly set it every night by stopping it and starting it when I’m wearing it. Oh, and sometimes I like to have the big second hand running on my Speedmaster but it has to match the small seconds hand. Anal, I know........ Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Which reminded me, one of my Rolex needs a new battery but when running it does keep amazing time, about 6-10 seconds a year Shocked

Since retiring I almost never wear a watch anymore, sad really as I have a nice collection and they just sit in boxes, draws and safer places.

I was a real watch geek once........funny how things change. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

What's the fascination with expensive watches Question
They all just tell the time.

Or is a jewellery thing for men? Laughing

Appears to me it's like some women with handbags. You can buy one for £5 or one for £3000. They both can hold the same amount of rubbish. Rolling with laughter

If you want an accurate time piece, any mobile phone will do the job and you don't need to get it serviced Very Happy Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Yes, and you can buy a cheaper 4x4 than a Freelander that will do the same job. Ditto with a house, a pair of shoes, a suit, a mobile phone, a laptop, a carpet, a sofa, a TV or just about anything you like. It’s just a matter of personal choice. By the way, nobody has posted up an 'expensive' or 'luxury' watch. They are, at best, mid range priced, mid range watches. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Just not worth getting into the “who needs an expensive watch” argument.......some people are happy living with crap. Rolling with laughter Regards
