Ah, maybe DPF was introduced earlier in the German market. I have read posts earlier in this thread and they were introduced in 2011in U.K.

My 2008 LHD was first registered in Germany and has a DPF

100% - just blanked after one week browsing on the internet, ecu without errors after 100km. I dont know, if is it placebo, but fuel consumption is better cca 0.5~0.7L, car more lively accelerating (on same road as before). no roads - more fun

I have just blanked my 2007 egr. Took me a while to find a plate in South Africa, in the end I had one made, so had 10 made at the same time in case any one else needs. It is the complete blank plate.

MikeBob, Do you by any chance have one of the 10 blanking plates made. Difficult to find in South Africa. Bow down

Thanks MikeBob Thumbs Up for the blanking plate. No lights or errors on MY11 SD4. Big improvement on the turbo lag and will be checking on any improvement on fuel consumption

I'd like blank my EGR and based on what I understood from this post, it looks like it should be easy since my freelander is a 2009 (pre facelift), no DPF.
Can anybody please explain to me in which place of the EGR the blanking plate would go? A photograph or a diagram would help a lot.
Thanks!

Juan

Take off the plastic engine cover if fitted. You will see this insulated pipe on the R/H side as you look at the engine, the blanking plate fits between this pipe & the throttle valve. You may also need to remove the mounting bolt on the top of the engine to allow enough movement of the pipe. Don't lose the sealing washer & add a smear of heat resistant silicone to the joint if you wish. (Picture courtesy of member Anders D).

Good luck, Nick

f.y.i.: if you don't want to use silicone, the Opel/Vauxhall 1.9 cdti (Z19DT) egr gasket perfectly fit.

but usually there's no needs to use gaskets or silicone Wink

Guys, I have another question before fitting the blanking plate.
According to the workshop manual, "Reducing the engine's combustion temperature and therefore the amount of NOx produced
is achieved by recirculating a proportion of the exhaust gases".
So, if egr is blanked, engine's combustion temperature will increase. May this cause more wear or other negative impact to the engine?

Thanks!
Juan

No problems with temperature. In fact the egr is closed over the 2.500 rpm also without the plate.

The only "problem" is that some water can condense at the end of the pipe, so blanking the egr at the exhaust manifold side will be better...but really tricky to do Neutral Wink

I blanked my EGR and have better MPG and a more responsive engine.
Mine is also a MY10 car with no DPF.
Only downside is that it takes a little longer to warm up the engine from cold start, but it not a problem..
