Hi all,

Just about to talke delivery of a Metropolis LE Freelander 2 with the posh leather seats.

I have a Twin headrest Rosen DVD system that I took out of my previous vehicle and would like to put into this car.

I will however need to remove the stock headrests and replace with these units, but will need access to the internals of the seat to allow routing thru the headrest pillars and down to the floor.

Can someone please advise if I can get into the seat via a clip panel, or a zip.

I will then find a safe route for the cables.

I will also need to install a permanent 12 v supply local to the centre console between the two front seats, but that's another story.

Can anyone assist please

Thank you, I was hoping to be able to take the back off, either via a clip or a zip. My previous car had a zip on each side so the whole back panel lifted and made installation and removal really easy....

i have the dvd players in the headrests to, came with the car. Although not installed by me I have had to re plug connectors in etc. There is a plastic runner at the bottom of the seat which allows the back to come away slightly....basically enough to get your arm up to run the wires. Bit of a pain and minus some knuckle skin later it is do able.

i recently installed my Rosen headrest in my HSE Lux

It was quite straight forward, the lower sections on the rear seat back are held together by a plastic rail, with the other section clipped in to this, prise these apart (might be easier to remove the out plastic side trim) and with the seat tilted forward you should be able to reach your arm up and fish the cables down and to the point were you want to install the box and power supply Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Aha. Where did you get power from and how did you lose the cables between the units. Thx

i got my power from some piggyback fuses i had installed for my dashcam in the front footwell

Linked it up to my my powersaver unit so it perm live, unless the battery drops too low when engine off

I wrapped my cables in fabric tape and slotted it under the centre console, easily done to bring the power to it.

I will reposition the unit from under the passanger seat, (sorted of bundled up under there) to a more hidden position, maybe in the centre console, infront of the gear stick, were the professionals installed it in my old FL2 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

dont know about NPINKS but mine are powered off the rear aux in the center console which unfortunately means its a constant power feed (which i will be changing, 2 young kids always forget to turn them off). 2010 HSE SD4 in Santorini black

thats one of the reasons i have mine on a powersaver, don't flatten the battery if they leave the dvd's on

I had the whole seat cover removed to fit my screen cables, so they could be routed and fixed without any risk of rubbing against something inside the seat.

I then ran the loom for the switched and permanent lives to the back of the glove compartment into the fuse box using piggy back fuses.

As for the sound, I did two things. Connected it all up so they infra red headphones can be used, and also I ran the phone plugs to a jack plug adaptor, under the console and plugged it into the the AUX plug.

This was the sound can be played through the car speakers too. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
