New car for the wife

The wife fancied a new car , something a bit up market, we looked around at few dealerships , merc, Audi . She plumped for a Lexus CT200 advance. Getting the car at a good price (cheaper than a focus Ghia).
Here's the rub, please tell me if I'm expecting to much. The car is built and in storage in th UK . Car was bought/ordered on Tuesday 23rd June and we take delivery this Friday 3rd July , in total 10 days to put it on a transporter and valet it. I contacted the dealer today to make sure everything was on track , the humming and hawing started , "well it looks like the middle of next week now". When I pointed out that wasn't good enough that if the car isn't ready to drive away on Friday I will be canceling the car and getting my deposit back.
Now they have got there Censored in gear and desperately trying to get the car here by Friday . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

your timescale is quite quick, but i assume they gave you it, but things do happen and cause delays.

Hopefully this will be something to do with the transport company, or the valeter running out of shampoo and not a delay that requires painting and a bit of bashing with a hammer

If you bought from a Lexus dealer, my experience with them they are top notch, and could teach a few dealers i have dealt with a thing or two

Cancelling your order won't get the car by the agreed date, so i really don't see why that's a threat to make Whistle

Though they do some nice accessories, coats and watches etc, that could persuade the Mrs to wait a little longer Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I never rush handover of a vehicle - they can cock it up without the pressure of a deadline so I would rather it was done properly first time than have to go back because of damage or missed items Confused

Hope you get sorted but I would just consider this Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Thanks for the feed back , Lexus gave me the date , as I said the car is new , so all it needs is to be put on a transporter , delivered , washed and good to go.
We have commitments Monday ,Tuesday , wait let think , most of next week , then a week on Saturday we are off on holiday for a week . That brings us into the middle of July, in my mind might as well wait for the new reg on sept 1st and get a factory built car with the extras my wife wants.
I don't think I'm hurrying them as they have had 10 days to get the car 400 miles. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

It would depend on where the PDI is done, some cars are done at the port of entry when the order comes through, others are done at the dealer, final washing off is always at the dealer. The dealer may have missed the slot for transport, or it could be at another dealer and needs to be collected then delivered. As it is in the country check the vin for year of manufacture, you won't be the first to get a brand new year or two year old car with some bits added to the latest spec. Thanks D1 , how do I check the vin ? This is the vin number from the paper work WF05XXGCD54T65535. This vin number doesn't make sense . It says the car was built in Germany in 2005 . Just checked my freelander and the year built is F 2015 . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

I ordered a new Golf once, the wife as crazing me. Because it was a new model (MK 6), we chose some options such as electric roof. Rear camera, different alloys, metallic paint, luxury and convenience lacks etc and didn't want what they had in stock, it took FIVE MONTHS from order to delivery. 10 days is nothing!

Steve D , the car is in the country , if I ordered one from the factory yeah sure I would wait, in fact we went in to place an order for September then they found the only ultra blue ct200 advance in the country and still can't move it 400 miles in a week never mind 10 days . The wife is now Censored off that what ever the deal says we are cancelling. The dealership manager, not the sales manager but the top dog phoned me at 3 pm saying this is just a courtesy call he will get back to me with a definitive answer within the hour , 90 minutes later and I'm still waiting. Do it now ! The vin comes up as an 05 C Max, so can't be the vin for your car, and that was from http://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Lexus/CT ,so I would ask again. Wonder whether they had the actual car Vin or a fob off while they chased up a car of your choice my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Ok guys I hold my hands up , I made an Censored of the vin number . The VN on the paperwork is for the car we are trading in, in saying that the trade in is a focus not a Cmax , the garage never saw the trade in so I don't know how the have come up with a VN.
My fault entirely Embarassed . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Presumably you'd have given them the registration of your PX - from that they could look up the lot i'd imagine.

Doesn't the VIN show model year rather than build year?

As I understand it, it shows build year, main dealers can then reduce it to the month, I assume by the serial number at the end of the Vin my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
