I had the roof rails (and cross bar) fitted on my HSE at delivery time by the dealer, and I do definitely get some wind noise above 50mph. All the fittings appear to be tight. I bought the rails as part of the deal, but now find myself thinking the car looks better without them, and I also don't need to use them this year as I thought I might do.

I have to agree - the FL2 does look better without them. But that said, they dont look too bad from the side its only the front view that isnt that good.

What I really need now is the G4 spray job, logos and all the accesories - that would make the car look the dogs danglies with roof rails Very Happy

wind noise

Hallo,
I had wind noise too.

I removed only the crossbar (see my gallery), not roof rail, and noise stopped.

I think that roof rail can be used without cross bar is you carry only light weight.

If you try to remove also roof rail, 6 screw will remain on top of roof.
Screws are screwed and sealed on roof. If you remove them you have to replace 6 plastic covers that are drilled during installation.

Now I'm trying to give cross bar a better aerodinamic shape.
First I removed the deflectors: they are made by black plastic and are sticked with some 3M film.
Can be easily removed with a little screw driver.

In next days I will try to cover the little step under cross barl to have a better shape in wind.

bye

As for Tonga Green, never in a million years would I have considered this colour until I saw one. I was at the dealer trying to decide on the colour (grey/black/rimini etc) and they had a Tonga Green car in for someone to look at. It's a great colour (esp with Alpaca) and better in the flesh than the brochure. A week later that exact car was mine Very Happy

Was that at Lancaster Reading? - think I saw it when I went for a test drive - looked pretty good!

Glad to see another local member - I'm in Caversham - only got mine on Thursday.

Hi - no, not Lancaster, I phoned them back in April when I was interested, only to be told all the salespeople were busy, and someone would call me back. They never did call, and so I bought the car from Ottons in Salisbury (I have a connection down there), who were excellent.

I'm in Tilehurst...

Funny that about Lancaster, exactly my experience with them. Arranged a test drive and when I arrived the guy wasn't expecting me, he had another customer and fobbed me off with a trainee who knew nothing about cars!

It was almost as bad as visiting a BMW dealership!

Got mine throughj a company car ownership scheme and it came from TH White in Wootton Bassett who have been pretty impressive so far. Not sure if I even want to take it in ther for servicing if their attitude is that bad

Update on the roof rails!!!!

Went back to the stealer that fitted them on Saturday to ask if there was anything that could be done about the gap between the screw cover and the car roof and they said thats just how they are.

Fantastic - paid £300 to get a whistle on the car. Never again!

My guess is that all roof rails whistle somewhat - at least this was the reason I chose not to have. But a gap in the screw cover/roof cant be normal Question
Still a £300 whistle must be a real pain (on the ears and pocket) Shocked 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
