It goes under the rubber strip on the left side of the windscreen and up along the rail. With a connector plug the crossrail can be taken off, but it is heavy.

Relating to the setup with the bar and the two spots, is the bumper strong and rigid enough? Do you need any steady bars to stop vibrations?
Just to be clear I'm referring to GreenLandy's setup.

I used a behind numberplate metal plate designed for just this use. (Comes as a two or three spot plate). I definately needed top supports to each spot to stop the vibrations on the light pattern. Now rock solid and bang on. I just zip tied lamp stabilisers so no future damage.

Ah yes I bought one of those a long time ago in a Mekonomen store iirc. Unfortunately it didn't get fitted back in UK as not suitable for my vehicle then. Gave it away some years back to someone with a Yeti.

Did you just screw it behind the number plate or put some backing plate behind the bumper like GreenLandy? Seem to remember Swedish cars have a different number plate mounting arrangement or is my memory that bad?

On my set up the lights are light weight and in use do not notice any real vibration . The bumper is flimsy but the back plate and metal cable ties which i have fed around the crash bar behind the bumper hold the x bar rigid .These ties go through the light mounting holes in the x bar and cant be seen after fitting . The metal cable ties can be used without bumper removal by feeding through the grill below the bumper and pulled back through above using a coat hanger or a flexible pick up tool /grabber Ģ2.50 .This saves time .
I include a picture of my switch on the dash.I placed it here for ease and no drilling , just fed wires around glove box .

No, your memory is quite good!

They sell them in Mekonomen / Biltema etc and they are rock solid sheet steel plate.

My bumper is reinforced so I just used 6 chunky thread screws and it pulled up nicely. Once snug all the force downwards is a sheering force, so provided you don't allow the top of the lamps to move around, they aren't going anywhere.

Where in Sweden did you live / work?? Or were you just visiting?

Hi, thanks to all for replies.

Re Sweden was working off and on over there since late 80s until 2012. Last ten years were almost full time. Rented apartments at first but ended up out on Baltic coast just north of Gävle. Great in summer but by hell when the sea freezes.

Cable beside the windscreen

Sorry for late answer, here is how the cable is drawn:

Within the yellow line is the powercable

Then it goes out, up besides the windscreen,

along the rubber gasket(is that the word?)

further up

Itsīs dreadfully dirty, but no matter, itīs a land Rover!
Here it goes in the channel

wound round the rail

The lightbar makes some noise, but not much, i makes difference if the crossbar is placed forwards, like it is now, but in wintertime I donīt open the sunroof, I use to have the crossbar on top of the B pillar (Where the doors joins) Itībetter to have it a bit back. But then the beam shines in into the cabin, so i have a bit of dark fabric on top of the curtain to seal the strong light off. Also having it back wonīt get disturbing light on the bonnet.

Cheers -Magnus in Sweden

looks very good.
I have a similar light bar. (durite style)
Mine will be mounted under a spare roof bar ( so I still have 2 for the roof box)
I plan to recess the mounting bolts within the roof bar and hid most of the cable in the roof rail gully.
So, hopefully there wont be too much noise.

I do plan to have the light bar forward, but if there is too much glare from the bonnet, I guess
I will have to move it backwards

will post pictures when installed
