Rear Suspension knock

Afternoon

Got a problem on the passenger rear, started as a knock maybe that could be heard once a week to now everytime I drive. Over anything other than a smooth road all I get from the ( thinking its the suspension ) knock knock knock....

Went through the what to try list and removed everything from the rear to see where its coming from ( spare wheel out, all tools out, boot cover out, boot floor out, tried driving with tailgate open ) none of this made a difference, so suspect it to be the rubber thing on the top of the shock/strut. Also have looked at all the bushes and what not under her and all seems good.

Has anyone changed this item them selfs, rather than taking to a dealership?

I don't think the part is very pricey at maybe £3? but the question is, is their an easy way to change it or any tips, got the Haynes but it dose not show the rubber part, only a ruff way to remove the shock itself. Seems to be a known fault point with the truck?

As always any help would be greatful

Not done it myself, but when our car had noises from the rear suspension i found this from section from topix, which helped give a clearer picture of just how many bits could be responsible.

Good luck if you do give it a go.

Cheers Tinytim

Have been looking at the lr one the other day Thumbs Up Looks like it could be one of two bits, when I look up the strut to the top of the spring you cant really see anything rubber and or feel much rubber. Hopefully going to try and lift the rear up with the fork lift to unload the suspension then see if its easyer to feel.

Its got worse over the time of owning the truck so it needs replacing at somepoint, guess it is a wearable part as it gets rubbed and knocked by the other parts.

Just one of those really annoying sounds everytime you drive anywhere Sad

Will update when anything gets done

Dan

Anti roll bar drop links. Changed mine not long back. About £20 each from main dealer. Easy job to do.

I have all these parts for more than six months as well but still didn't change them. Wife's daily car and she doesn't hear that noise Smile Every time I take a car for fuel fill I remember these parts in my workshop so who will be quicker to do that? Very Happy
