Difficult one. At what time could they say the '3 months' deadline has been passed? 1, 2 days, 2 3, 4 weeks later or even exactly 3 months ( |

It seems very mean of them, not to have covered the cost of the whole service, as surely they had already given the car a good 'going over' before putting it up for sale as part of their 'approved used car scheme', or whatever it's called.

This answer I like
This answer I no like But in reality I fear this is the right answer. I guess they have to call and end to the 3mths at some point otherwise it isn't a cut off - its a floating option. And I guess a fair portion of the blame does fall with me as I should have insisted on this at the time - guess I just assumed that it would be done by the dealer as it was that close to being 1yr old. Clearly I should not assume anything. I guess the thing that also bugs me is that if I have picked the car up one weekend later - as I had wanted - it would have been in the 3mths !!! |

Yes but than you would not have enjoyed your FL2 for ONE WHOLE week and now this would have been The dealer over here also told me that service is due every 24000 Km and not every year but I am sure he is wrong as at least the engine oil must be changed. This was also a good point about the cost and made me call a couple of other dealers. One is an authorised local garage - got the number off the landrover website - and the only thing they dont actually do is sell the cars and the other a dealer in the same network. Lookers Chelmsford £432.11 (where car was bought from) Lookers Bishops Stortford £432.11 plus a 20% discount if serviced this month = £345.69 Taylors (Landrover Authorised) £301.59 Its a joke !! And the best thing is that the Taylors place is 4 miles from my home !!! |

Know this does not help but when I have bought ex demo cars in the past, regardless of how low the mileage, have always insisited on a service as part of the deal. |

I normally make it a deal breaker, but then on the merc and fl, both were exactly 1 year old and due a service anyway so they did it anyway. There are internal dealer rules for most of these things. I spent over an hour argung for new tyres on the merc (it has 245/45/17s @£150 ea |

Dealers dont really make a huge profit from sales of cars.
