I agree with pab the its nice yes but what a price, . many fl2 owners round here are retired types or school runs mums, often not caring about hi spec goodies etc they will not be paying the huge asking price of a disco sport.

for those wanting bling the porch macan looks a bargain next to an evoque and a positive steal against a disco sport
atleast the disco sport can hold it head up high when compared to an X3. soulless things

and yes I will keep writing disco sport and it is not and never will be a 'DS' At work

The later FL1s were actually pretty good, and even the early ones (according to the reliabilityindex figures) were better than the D3 (just). I think it's down to perception - the Discovery had an established reputation so it got away with its appalling reliability. The Freelander was the new kid, so it didn't!

Pab n CG are on the money here with the price/spec equation.
It's going to be a tough sell in the showrooms with many existing FL2 owners, but, one must remember that most automotive folk live beyond their means and take on all these inappropriate and very expensive lease and other wonders of the modern car financing world instruments.

That large group of deluded folk only look at how much the monthly payment is; so if they get a deal around their stretched monthly budget they are all hooked line and sinker to that shiny new box on their drive to "impress" the neighbours at number 6 Windsor Gardens. The £40 - 45k price tag does not enter their minds. It's £400 to £500 a month for the next 3yrs. The economics of the fiscally inept.

Scotland 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I quite like the look of it but will wait till I've seen it in the flesh as some of the angled shots are not too flattering. It is though overpriced, £5K markup from the Freelander on almost like for like spec. They will get the sales initially but I can see heavy depreciation after a few years. I also don't need the extra seats and its that bit larger, at 4 inches longer and from what I can gather a bit wider, although the spec states it's actually 1 inch narrower I read somewhere it is actually wider with the mirrors retracted.

I was looking to hold on to this one for another 2 years and pick up a year old DS but with them shipping with the existing engines I might reconsider and pick up a Dynamic/Metropolis in a years time, hopefully a baby discovery will be announced by then.

I've had my FL1 TD4 from new for over a decade! Old girls still going strong Laughing just touched 40,000 miles now and nothing gone wrong as such apart from a £30 foot brake pedal switch replaced under warranty

Went to The Burghley horse trials last weekend. One Land Rover dealer had two Discovery Sports available for the public to view. Around 10 people at a time were allowed in the showroom to look at the new cars. Very impressed with the cars, although the styling has moved away from the current FL2 I liked the shape and think it looks better in the flesh. The interior as you would expect is a big step up from the FL2, very nice!
Must admit I was quite surprised to see the cars as i thought they were not being shown until the Paris motor show. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4.Zermatt Silver,Privacy glass,Bi-Xenon headlights........Gone!

On the 'proper' Disco and the RRs maybe, but not on the FL/DS. They have a simple Haldex system backed up by some clever electronic braking. I think you'll find the actual AWD system in cars like the Escape version of the Touareg is better, with locking diffs, low range, etc.
