CB aerial mounts

Hi folks
I've just signed up and looking for advice on CB aerial mounts for the Freelander 2. I have a magmount at the moment but it's a bit of a pain with low barriers. Any preferences for mounting the aerial or the position would be great to hear from anyone
Cheers

ANTENNA MOUNTS ...

Have a look here at some of ideas I have used ,

http://s1067.photobucket.com/albums/u422/mudslingerwales/

I only use rail rail mounts (I made much more secure) NEVER a mag mount they can do SOOO MUCH damage.

never had anything fail or fall off

My kit used for special emergency comms

if you are realy interested can send you a link for the so239 cable assembly minutare coax,pl259 (takes about 10 days from far east )
but allows you to hide the coax o fear of trapping it and works very well after 3 years still no problems .!!!

any questions P M ME Wales

Hope the suggestions were of some help, just b careful routing the coax, otherwise you might end up with water coming into the car and it can wick anywhere keep a close eye on it for a few weeks especialy when raining or a few days after

Good luck

laser antenna

I had 2 problems with fitting a cb radio but have solved both of them reasonabily well.First problem was were to put the radio ,second the antenna.First problem solved by using a remote type radio with the controls on the mic and fitting the unit under the seat ,second took a while but I eventually found an antenna that sticks to the inside of the windscreen, it is almost clear and it efective and nobody knows its there. Cables fit neatly under the door trim and foot rail then under the seat . The antenna is called laser clear and is manufactured by laser- antenna.com dont know if they are avilable in uk .
if you would like Iwill try and post some photos Doug

I managed to get one image here the rest are in my gallery
The antenna sticks to the inside of the windscreen and is not in drivers vision but check local regulations if it is a problem it can go on the passenger side but makes fitting the whole unit a bit more tricky .The cable fits under the windscreen and door rubbers then under the protection strip along the door sill ,does not leak and has had 2 wet seasons of tropical downpours .The mic is mounted with a heavy duty velcro that is used to mount gps computer components in earth moving equipment ,at first I used stick on velcro from the local hardware shop but the mount fell off every time the tempture went over 25c the heavy duty stuff has not fallen off in temps of 40c+ with the temp reaching 60c inside the vechicle when parked in the sun it is a 3m product if that helps . I used the acc socket in the centre consoul for power so that i did not have to remove any internal panels that never go back properly . I am not sure if this antenna or similar are available elswere but if you look up prestige communications in Perth they should be able to help or laser-antenna.com

Judging by the size of the antenna I guess you are operating in the 430-480 mhz range

or uhf Amateur band ???

Uk cb operates only on 27mhz lost the 900 mhz band years ago to mobile telephone !!

27 mhz ant are a lot bigger and would not like to try sticking that to glass even with super glue

thanks Guys really helpful. Running on the usual frequencies and the new bracket seems to be working fine having "off-road" tested it this weekend.

Once again thanks for the input Wink LJ & Lara the i6

Any chance you could point me at where you found the one that uses the roof bar mounts?

I was thinking of knocking something together that would screw in that I could attach the K-400 mount to but if there's something already available even better.
