Thinking of putting 21's on?

Hi All

What are your thoughts on this?

I've got 19's on now.

But I've seen 20's but never 22's or 21's?

Having just sold a car with 19" rims (and 235/35 R19 tyres) fitted as standard, with the ride quality of solid tyre wheel barrow and a total inability to deal with the slightest pothole without the constant fear of wrecking a wheel or knocking the tracking out of line, I'd say it's very easy to have too much of a good thing!

Stick with the 19's is my advice....

John.

but that was a ford asbo. fl2 would finish up with higher sidewalls than a asbo

I wouldnt do either , own an asbo or fit 21 inch alloys to an fl2, but the fl2 would be the car to drive if only 21 inch alloys were available (unless it was grey) At work

Hi There,

I have seen a few 21's and 22's available for the Freelander 2.

I have seen Evoque's with 21's and 22's on and they look okay.

What tyre profiles are fitted when the wheels get so large? What will it become with 21 and 22" wheels?

Are you able to retain the 235 width, or will it become much wider?

If it does get wider, will you have problems with fowling at maximum steering lock and will it be more prone to aquaplaning?

If you do go to such large wheels, will you need to change the shocks and springs to compensate for the completely different characteristics of the wheels and tyres, to retain something close to the quality of ride and handling that you currently have?

John.

I would go 20 and no higher. As we know the 20 is a comfortable fit.

20's are as big as you want to go, and offer no downsides compared to 19's and the ride is no harsher.

Several people put 22's on Evoques, but Personally I wouldn't want to do it. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
