Industrial action at JLR looming

BBC Midlands were reporting from Castle Bromwich last night, as it appears that the DHL Staff have got their knickers in a twist again over working conditions. Apparently, the Unite union have decided that a 4% pay rise is not sufficient so good old Red Len has ordered a series of strikes across Castle Bromwich and Halewood Operations. This could cause production to grind to a halt within 2 hours, according to the FT.

Why is it, when something actually positive comes out of Manufacturing in this Country, do we have Lefty To$$ers hell-bent on putting the mockers on it? I could understand it perhaps if they were working in a sweatshop for a pittance, but they are in one of the cleanest Manufacturing plants in the world, and, like many others, I haven't had a pay rise for 3 years, so 4% is not something to be sniffed at if you ask me!

One thing is certain - TATA won't tolerate this affecting their Business for long. Whilst the dispute is between DHL and Unite, if it continues to impinge on the growth of JLR as a company, I can see them being booted out!

As for Len McClusky......well I could rant about him all day long! Banging Head Foraging near Gaydon....

No pay rise here for over 3 years either and 4% would be very nice Thumbs Up

Really saddens me to see this.

DHL will have to pay JLR xxxx thousands of pounds for every hour the line is stopped.
It's in all suppliers contracts.
It's a huge amount of money.
Talk about held to ransom.
Well done Red Len; a complete and utter greedy Censored Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Scumbags. Greedy Left-wing Twunts, the lot of 'em. I hope JLR insist DHL tear their individual Contracts with the strikers up.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23861873

How you can say that 6.2% Pay rise is "not enough" when no-one else in the Country has had one for years in the current climate? It speaks volumes about the kind of character that these Chancer's, sorry Strikers, actually are!

Unfortunately, the Unions these days are all about disrupting industry, and NOT about protecting the working man. Anyone who disagrees with that thought, based on the above story, please explain below..... Foraging near Gaydon....

Workers have rights without trade unions.
Trade unions have screwed this country before and they will do it again.
Why should DHL workers demand and strike over salary as JLR get paid more? They work for a different company, of they don't like it...move.
What do the unions think will happen if they damage the profitability of an Indian owned company who have a ready and willing workforce at home. The union leaders seem to have forgotten that the world has changed.

Your joking!!!!!

I would never call 'em 'sumbags'; but if you think Unions that are attempting to damage a motor industry just to 'make things easier for their families' is acceptable, well, i'm speechless.

I worked in the motor industry all my life and saw little good that came from the Trade Unions other than ruin our industry and damage the UK financially.
I've nothing against the ideals of Trade Unions, most do a fine service. What I do strongly object to is downright bloody mindedness to cause the most damage and disruption to get their way with no consideration for others who often loose their livelihoods as a direct result.

I'm very proud of the UK manufacturing industry, but ashamed of what the Unions have done to the Motor Industry.
I think that after almost 40 years in the industry, I've a pretty good idea what I'm talking about.

This is not a rant.
I've not even begun. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

You really do have a trade union problem. They do what they do to protect the workers rights. They have to follow very stringent rules with balloting and every member has a vote.

Yes I do! They are run by hypocritical communists determined to destroy anything positive that this country produces, with their out of date left wing mentality. Be it Education, Healthcare, Transport...it's always the same smug self-serving Leaders demanding an immediate walk out. YOU really don't understand what "Trade Unions" are all about these days at all. They protect no workers rights, as has been highlighted elsewhere, UK LAW does that. Further, with regards to balloting, Unite, just like the RMT that hold London to ransom when it suits them, only have to ballot 40% of their members before deciding on industrial action, so what does that tell you?! Please, you'll be telling me that Red Len is the saviour of UK Manufacturing next!! Rolling with laughter Foraging near Gaydon....
