Additional Earthing Strap

Having had a couple of issues with starting and getting the HDC not actvated message, and having read through various posts on the forum, I am going to fit an extra earthing strap between the negative terminal on the battery and the top bolt of the starter motor. What size terminal is required for the starter motor bolt and what would the ideal ampage rating of the cable be.

Its funny you mention that... The problems just come back for me plus I noticed my lights a little dim tonight.

Looked at getting an official lead for £17....

As for the hole size M10 jumps to mind but I know you will find it in the old thread.

I made an earth strap "fitted from the negative side of the battery to the top of the engine block" a few years back i have never had a cold starting or any other problems with the electrics since, give it a go you have nothing to loose.

Just ordered one from Dan at Duckworths. For anyone interested the part number is LR013839 and they take a couple of days to get in as they are not stocked.

Price £13.95 plus vat

Just double checked with Dan at Duckworths and he is now unsure. He has ordered in different cables which will be in on WEdnesday so will check again then.

Fitting two earth cables used to be part of standard Automotive design practice. If one becomes high resistance or detached, the engine keeps running.
Then along come the been counters who know Censored all
And deleted the second cable assembly Banging Head . Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

How hard a job is it to fit a earth strap? Do you have to go underneath the engine or is it something you can do with the bonnet up? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
