Help with camera please - Fuji Finepix S1730 Bridge

Afternoon all,

I cannot seem to get a 'sharp' clear pic with the above even on the auto setting. I've then used a friends point and shoot new Canon compact HD and its just fantastic, fast, perfect clarity and depth at full zoom.

All of my photos tend to be family events or spur of the moment wildlife or weather shots.

Am I due an upgrade or some maintenance on the Fuji? Lens is clear, the picture quality is just not meeting my expectation. I've looked at what they are selling for on Amazon and its £55-£75, so maybe time to sell.

The Fuji is a few years old now, time to upgrade??

Thanks,

Jim time to upgrade you have it seems outgrown what that camera is capable of. Not uncommon I upgraded several times.

Personally I am in the Nikon camp but in truth not much difference between the and Canon. Question is do you want a camera that also takes movies or just pictures?

If you want to ask a load of questions you would be most welcome to pop around and check out my gear to see how you get on with it. I am only Just south of Cannock so not to far from you I hope. Photography is my serious hobby so bring you camera with you and check it out against my target to check focus issues.

Also give you a chance to handle a Nikon D300 (stills only crop sensor) which can only be got used now but there are good ones out there still or the D700 full frame. I do also have the latest D800 which does movies as well but at £2000 may be a little costly.

Some of my gear your welcome to try

Hi James, camera sensors & VDU displays have increased in quality during the past few years & therefore lower resolution images may look less sharp on more modern screens. The camera may have focus issues & I would suggest trying to take a close up or macro shot to highlight any focus issues. Apart from that, there are a huge number of reasonably priced compact cameras which can produce HD quality images.

Evening all,

Unfortunately this dropped down the list of priorities but its back at the top again!! From my research, wants and needs, this one is coming top of the pile...

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras/digit...5-pdt.html

I want compact point and shoot, good zoom with minimal fuss. Purely weather photos, the odd spur of the moment wildlife shot and the usual cars/family outings!! However, I want the clarity and the ability to at least have the quality to allow a small canvas or print.

Anyone have any experience of these? This is the top end of my budget to be honest Crying or Very sad 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

Focus servo in the body is the way to go Nick Thumbs Up
It will open up a whole new World to lens.
There are lots of 35mm, full frame if you like, secondhand.
And cheap too Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Just bought my first one last week, it's a Nikon coolpix L320 16.1 megapixels and 26x optical zoom wide angle. It's not the fanciest but it will do for a beginner.

There is a high chance this site maybe inundated with photos for the pros to pass judgement as I perfect my skills Thumbs Up 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

That's the reasons I want to head that way, better camera and loads of lenses that are cheaper but not AF-S prices Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Were not pro's by any stretch J77, there are some on here and thankfully only constructive criticism, in moderation is given. I am also a member of a photography forum as is Nick and there are some right twerps on there who know everything and more about the subject so I haven't posted for quite some time.

Put pics up by all means, it generates interest on the forum, it doesn't have to be LR related either.
It's a great hobby and can pay great dividends in producing something worthy to adorn a wall. Research pays off too, this was from Scotland last week, sunset time was listed as 8:40, I went along around 7:50 and got some great shots, at 8:15 the sun dipped behind the mountains, at 8:35 loads of people were turning up with a camera to get the sunset at 8:40 (sea level) and disappointed as it had gone.

By all means comment on this and don't forget to add help for the OP and his quest for a camera Thumbs Up

Jimski, this is easy to get on the camera you are looking at, go for it....
