Watched the mileage go to 150,000 Common sense isn't very common.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Today about 40 miles from home, whilst accelerating via 'resume cruise' button, out of a round about,

felt sudden deceleration, and speed levelled at 50mph, with no control via accelerator,

yellow and red warning triangles and 'Restricted Performance' appeared on dashboard.

Stopping at nearest layby, switching off/locking made no difference.

Continued carefully to destination, found that a fully locked rest of about 20 minutes (shopping) cleared the fault.

All OK until about 10 miles toward home on, again the same fault on leaving roundabout.

Continued most of the Journey home mostly on dual carriageways/motorways, medium acceleration to 30mph, then exceedingly slow progress up tp about 60mph cruising.
A couple of scary moments when slight changes in gradient took 20mph off speed quite quickly (enough to make us choose to do the last 10 miles down backroads, instead of tackling the long motorway incline)

At home OBD pending readings of P0046, P259E, P2263 and a waff - waff - waff sound if throttle blipped.
I suspect the turbo / turbo actuator.

I have extended warranty so phoned main dealer (for some reason you can now only speak to a call centre - nowhere near the garage) I have to leave car there for 2 - 3 days for an emergency diagnosis and then longer for a repair!
Worst still I cannot have a courtesy car until the fault has been diagnosed and confirmed.

The fault seems to only occur when warm, but I feel that it is unsafe to drive up the motorway to dealer, so tomorrow I will be calling the AA out.

Ironically, at the end of the month I will be changing to the enhanced LR Warranty, at which time they would have handled the whole problem from the beginning. I think it was 'dorset' on this forum who recommended full cover, I should have listened!

It is my first real 'taking car away' fault in my 10 years with Freelander 2s. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 74k+ miles) (MY2015)

Changed the ATF, well a partial change anyway. I'd done a partial change earlier in the year about 4000 miles ago

I used my newly acquired iCarsoft v2.0 LR to read the ATF temp by telling it the car was a 2012 Evoque.

With a reading of 61 deg C I cross checked the gearbox casing temp with my IR thermometer which showed 51 degrees C.

Anyway, gear changes seem smoother than they were.

Had the pipe at front of engine go a few days ago. Replacement arrived today and all fitted. Pain to get to the top end but other than that a fairly quick and cheap job.

Replaced the passenger power mirror. Casing was broken on mine, so found a second hand one.

Door card off, tweeter speaker cover off, three nuts and a torx screw removed and on with the replacement.

Whole job took an hour.

Next job, re-spray the boot handle - its a mess.

This forum (and Powerful UK on the tube) been s great help so far into my LR ownership, so thanks very much.

That's one of the jobs I need to do on mine, I never noticed the damaged housing until I'd owned mine for a little while...!

I agree, without the likes of this forum and YouTube I wouldn't have attempted half the jobs I've done on mine.

And with some of the money I've saved I have bought a couple of bits off Powerful UK.. Laughing .

Just back from a break in Yorkshire and found a letter from West Yorks constabulary telling me I was to be reported for travelling at 36 in a 30 zone. Censored . Rather took the edge of what was otherwise a really good trip. Still awaiting the PCN but expecting a fine (£100?) and 3 points on my previously unblemished 45 year licence Sad

Unless you’ve already done one in the last 3 years , you’ll be offered a speed awareness course . About £90 and half a day of your life . Your license will remain unblemished. West Yorks seem to be on a roll , I’ve seen vans at 4 locations in 2 days , and they are installing state of the art static cameras all over .

Of course if you don’t want to do a course you can take the points ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !
