speedo turned onto 130000 miles as I pulled onto the drive. Common sense isn't very common.

Had the “ Rattle of Death “ 3 times on turning off the engine today , although not on the fourth . I’m picking up a new throttle body from Europarts tomorrow , and it will be installed by a mate on Sunday ( I’ve lost interest in DIY spannering these days ). At 63000 miles it’s a classic age for the plastic gearing to be ragged , so I’ll go for Preventive Maintenance rather than wait got total failure . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Had a nice surprise yesterday after picking up my new glasses with varifocal lenses. I had it in my mind that my 2014 FL2 had done 61k miles. I now see that it's actually reading only 51k. I feel richer already Very Happy 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

How are you getting on with them?
My optician suggested Im near the stage of needing glasses for driving, already wear them for reading / using the computer and I dont fancy the hassle of carting 2 pairs of glasses about.
Are they difficult to get used to?
Might just get a prescription windscreen fitted instead Whistle Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I tried a couple of pairs of varifocals when I first needed glasses, very slight for driving more for reading but I found even the most expensive varifocals with the greatest eyeline area gave me a very distorted view when looking through the extreme edges of them, for example looking over the shoulder when driving at angled junctions or checking blind spots when overtaking, two different opticians said “it was a characteristic of varifocals” so I tried normal bifocals and immediately they gave no distortion at all when driving so have stuck with them, be careful and if you do go for varifocals make sure you can reject them if you have the same issue after a few days as I had. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Checked the tyre pressure since I removed the darn TPMS sensors, all good since I have not driven the LR2 for 3 days. Gonna try researching if there is a way to disable the TPMS sensor light & message permanently.......

Christmas shopping...

Wasn’t bad as it involved a lunch in the garden centre cafe and my Spaniel sat patiently in the back without getting mud on all of the seats, Just some of them.....

Varifocal lenses take a lot of getting used to. Problems like walking down steps (which will be out of focus) or trying to read a book title on a high shelf come to mind or trying to fix a ceiling light fitting (your head won't go back far enough). However overall works for me for general use. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

did the christmas shopping tonight with the wife and spent an extortionate amount of money,

also filled the fuel tank to the top for the first time (ive not had it long), added 1 litre of 2T oil into the diesel (for the first time) to see if it helps, no adverse affects so far, will continue with 2-300ml for the force-able future. mileage is 155k so i figured the engine probably requires cleaning inside.

Back on the varifocal story I understand that there are issues with the new rear view mirrors that turn into rear view camera screens when the back of the car is full of junk or centre seat is raised as in the new Defender. The problem being that as a mirror the image is a long way away but as a TV screen it's very close. Probably designed by some kid who doesn't need glasses yet. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
