Yes, that was what I was referring to. A good space saver I think. Almost the same as my example including showing a users total 'thanks' as well as the number of 'thanks' they have given. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

It is good that it shows who has " thanked", however, I still have reservations on this forum.
On many occasions I have provided information to requests from members and thanked for it, however, it is sometimes the case that I know of previous threads with the answers, being thanked and scored for this would not be correct, I could achieve a high score simply by knowing how to search correctly for the information, which the majority of the time, can be found.

That said, a number of members seem to be behind this idea, I will flag it up with Martin and we can get his thoughts.

Taz. Lack of search ability aside, the fact that you have been thanked, presumably by the space wasting creation of a separate post instead of the 'thanker' clicking a simple 'thanks' button, gives more weight to the usefulness of a 'thanks button' I think. I'm not personally interested in getting a high score so any scoring could be left out of the equation to stop pointless high 'thanks' scores being earned by those that are. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

its used on DW and the op will post something, say a post on how he washed a car, if its something special it ends up with a list of 200 names below it, that have thanked him, they also post a reply saying "wow you cleaned that really well" which is then thanked by the OP,

I can see its uses, but also not Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

They are a bit anal on that site though so it's to be expected! We're not like that on here, are we? Mr. Green Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Yes, it has its merits, I have PM'd Martin for his thoughts on implementing it.

It is used on many forums, sometimes to good effect, mostly not, as it ends up being a "score" and the thread still gets many thanks comments added also, it's not our decision though and it will certainly be given thought.

It's just 'kiddies toys' and will be overused, abused and unnecessary. All one is looking for from the OP is recognition of the help given, by thanking any contributors with a " Thumbs Up thanks" at the end of the thread.
The members who never bothered to 'thank' before will still not use a 'thanks' button Confused

I don't want this forum going down the route of segregating members by having statistics against their username, 'reputation' is the next step Rolling Eyes

There are benefits for a clean and simple forum.

There are arguments for and against this, it is not something that is a simple feature to switch on in the current forum software.

For me personally the negatives are that I think it leads to laziness and stifles discussions, and is likely to be abused by a few who go around thanking everyone for everything, which happens on a lot of forums. It's OK when it's 10, but by the time you get to 200 thanks it is a lot to scroll past....

On the positive side it's a good way to generate a marker to flag up posts of special note and which could be sticked or otherwise have further attention drawn to it.

I think you got the wrong end of the stick Mart, there is no scrolling mate, its just a tiny line below a members post with members who have thanked (example on my image a few posts back) But if this forum dos not support such a thing i would suggest you remove this thread and forget all about it
