Oil Service due message is linked to the number of DPF regeneratiion cycles the vehicle goes through. DPF became standard on all diesel models in UK from MY2011 which went on sale in September 2010.

This message is based on number of days since last service, nothing to do with DPF regenerations.

Actually, the message gets triggered by either of these criteria, whichever occurs first.

Great tip, It worked on my wife's my11 too. I thought it was a wind up too with all those actions to perform. I wonder if he'd added these I would still have played along.

8. Park vehicle facing North
9. Tune radio to Kiss fm.
10.Squirt windscreen washers 3 times.

Because it still would've worked...

FL2 XS 2012 Oil service message

Brazilian tip:

1. Turn on the ignition switch
2. Open the hood
3. Open the driver door
4. Note: Manintenance resetting information is not displayed on the instrument cluster. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, and brake pedal, and hold for 60s.
5. Turn off the ignition switch
6. Turn on the igntion switch and check whether manintenance information is cleared
7. If maintenance information is not cleared, repeat the procedure.

I bought a FL2 2012 in July 2016, the garage did a engine oil service but did not reset the oil service interval.
six weeks later the oil service visit dealer message came up on the dash and on this vehicle there seems to no way to remove the message. I have a iCARSOFT LR2 diagnostics code reader and that has no option to reset the message.

However this routine that Fadig posted worked a dream, thanks Fadig

I thought you could reset the Oil Service Indicator with an iCARSOFT LR2 diagnostics code reader. Sure it mentions it in the manufactures spec. I was looking at getting one for the next service. Confused Gone:

Ya me too Eurolandy, it will reset the oil service indicator light (Which i never saw) and service interval but not the oil service visit dealer message, reading through some of the posts on different forums it looks like this 62 plate FL2 has had the message added to the vehicle software but not been added to the diagnostics software however I did the manual clear routine and that cleared it.
Regarding the icarsoft unit i need to check, when i select the model year in the diagnostics options i usually choose the 2012-13 but have read that the option may be in the 2013-14 section, to be honest this is the first unit i have ever owned so i am a bit of a rooky, i will report back if i find anything out i may contact the icarsoft guys as well.

Ok so I contacted the icarsoft guys, and they said there are some models of FL2 around 2012 that the only way to get rid of the visit dealer message is a manual process and if you vehicle is affected then it will tell you on the icarsoft tool, I had another look at my LR2 diagnostics box and the manual process is actually listed on the LR II icarsoft tool exact process that I used on an earlier post, so I am guessing that when you take you car in to LR steelership they just perform this routine.!!!!
However it wasn't in the menu that they said.

Oil service indicator

Try this ,I've just sorted a 2011 freelander 2
Sit in car and turn ignition on ,keeping the ignition on open the bonnet catch and then fully open the drivers door ,place your feet over the brake and accelerator pedal pushing them to the floor for 60 seconds . It has just worked on mine

Ok. But don't forget to change the oil because it's polluted by the dpf passive regenerations (read the description in my post before).

Have tried Taric method several time, but message(s) still exist, have taken it back to garage who did the service and he is taking it to an independent LR garage for resetting. Fingers and toes crossed

Only works to clear the "service" on pre facelift models, "oil service" is related to face lift models and the DPF. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
