I just had to replace the ring and bulb housing on my FL2 as the plastic ring had broken. To lift the housing from the console there is a small cut out in the console and the green plastic has 2 small teeth on it that have to be lined up with the cut out before you can lift it out. So, you just turn the green ring until they line up.

It's tricky to get the cigar lighter out of the green unit though! About half way down the green plastic bulb housing, there are 2 very small teeth that hold the cigar lighter in place - one on each side. I had to force these back so that I could slide the cigar lighter out. I was worried it might split at any moment!

The other problem was that the wire to the housing was very short and I had to re-attach it by removing the trim from around the gear level so that I could reach under the console.

Hope that this helps! Apologies if I've misunderstood! GONE - 2011/11 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto

Why the F Censored didn't JLR make the supply wire 1" longer? The short wire makes it virtually impossible !! Evil or Very Mad - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

It was a PIA to get it fitted. My best advice it's be patient, don't be afraid and use plastic trim tools. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Probably because the cable routing was done using Catia with an inexperianced driver! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

3D CAD software, it's the reason why everything works on the drawing board but never in reality because some spotty oik with a computer degree and a black belt in call of duty designs cars on it Rolling Eyes
