iPhone 4 with HSE

When I make a call on my HSE using voice dialing,(which does work from time to time) I don't hear the ringing on the car speakers. I just have a silence until the distant phone is answered. is there a setting I have got wrong somewhere?

Same as mine, I don't get an engaged tone either the radio just comes back on again and I have to try again, if it is not engaged the next thing I here is "Hello".

Mine works perfect on a LR2 HSE. Maybe a faulty phone unit? Cuatro Por Cuatro

Hard to imagine that the first three responders would all have faulty iPhones. I think it may be something to do with the settings but I haven't been able to sort it out yet.

Apple have an ongoing problem with calls not connecting correctly, the problem you are experiencing is very similiar, the person you have called, answers and can hear you, however, you are not aware of this as the phone didn't ring out.
It happens on mine regularly, although strangely, if I tap the speakerphone icon on/off it connects correctly each and every time, someone told me of this workaround and it does work. About time Apple sorted this issue.

I meant phone unit in the LR2/Freelander 2. Not the iPhone itself. Sorry for the confusion. Cuatro Por Cuatro

When you place a call through the car, as it starts to ring (though you can't hear it), the phone screen comes up with a number of speaker options. One is 'Land Rover' with the speaker icon beside it. There are two other speaker options. If you select one of the other options then re-select the 'Land Rover' option you can immediately hear the phone ringing through the car's speaker. This makes me think that the problem is with the iPhone rather than the car.

I also found this on an Apple support forum. It works as it says but it didn't do any good for me:-

"When the phone is locked and you double click the home button ipod will appear. Then press and hold the home button & voice control appears. Press cancel, you will return back to the ipod while the phone is still locked. You will notice a strange button appeared inside the ipod buttons it looks like play button but it is surrounded by a rectangle, press this button you will find 2 options iphone & iphone speaker choose iphone & try."

I also found a post which said to go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Incoming Calls on the iPhone. I tried all the settings in there and nothing worked.

Oh hum!

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 Sport Manual Santorini Black

Have you all got hae's

I have a sport and have had no probs with either iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4

There was a problem with apples bluetooth stack but that was corrected 3 updates ago.

Are you saying the call connects just the first few tones do not come through when the dialer is connected or does the phone connect but you cannot hear the person..

I might be able to help if you can clarify please

When I dial a number I don't hear a ringing tone but the person I'm calling answers.
