Fitting roof bars query

We are on the verge of buying a 2011 Freelander, but would need the roof bars. If I can't get these included in a deal, how easy are they to fit? Is it done from the outside, or does the roof lining need dropping, ie can it be a DIY job?

the fitting guide should be on the topix website

http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/i18n/index

Others have DIY fitted them, i think there is a plastic strip that needs drilling through to expose the nut you bolt in too

PS just checked the guide is on there Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Easy enough to DIY fit, just remember that for the trim cut, measure twice, cut once

You could always look at buying a set of Thule Cross Bars and Feet which will be cheaper than the LR option and can be fitted and removed in less than 5 minutes.

Have looked at the Thule bars, but not a fan of the feet bearing on bodywork (appreciate it has rubber pads). That would be a fallback option at the moment.

If you leave the Thule bars on for long enough there is always a degree of chaffing where the feet meet the body work. The rubber pads leave a mark too but that can usually be buffed out.

IMHO the LR roof bars do look the part.
