Stockton Dunes Permit

Next week I am going to Stockton Beach for couple of days (I plan to stay overnight on the dunes, got tent and all). This is my first ever getting off the bitumen, I am very excited and a little scared at the same time.

Can you tell me, do I need some kind of a permit and if I do, where do I get it? Thanks.

I will post you a beach permit as soon as I make one

"No vehicular access is possible at the southern end of the beach. Vehicle entry to the beach is via Lavis Lane in Williamtown or one of the two entrances in Anna Bay in Port Stephens and a permit needs to be purchased from chicken george before entering the beach.Drivers must ensure that they respect the natural habitat of the beach and refrain from driving on the plants and grasses on dune structure.

The beach is at its widest near the Lavis Lane entrance

The real permit is $10 for 3 days or $30 a year. Get it at the service station on the round about at Lavis Lane. Let your tyres down and turn the dsc off. If you can, it is well worth doing a tagalong tour. They will show you the ropes on sand driving, points of interest along the beach and dunes, and pull you out of trouble when you get stuck Smile. Be careful where you camp. You don't want to be run over by a knucklehead zooming over a dune. Cheers.

Hey, mikehzz Very Happy

I wish I've read your message before setting off. That was exactly what I needed. Didn't know about the tagalong tour, neither I knew about switching off DSC in sand. Sad Well, I learn slowly...

Thanks mate!
