| Given that the high speed CAN bus can be picked up as two wires all over the car, I don't think a lock on the OBD2 connection will slow someone down if they've decided to take your car. |

Well it's back from the dealer today and the crackle has gone.
The dealer has updated the software to fix it, but interestingly I couldn't find anything on topic for it.
