The problem is not the cost of the part but the labour to replace it due to location 
It's a few hours to replace it's true, having just done the cooler on mine which isn't exactly fun.

Can have it mapped out for around £200... which will hopefully also give me fuel economy, performance etc...

The EGR will give an error code, but it's only minor and can be ignored.
