Mines on 160k miles and still going strong
Changed the PTU and Diff oil at 95k
Thought the diff was on the way out 12 months ago but turned out it was all tyre noise

From the symptoms you describe, there is another possibility which is the starter motor, or more precisely, the starter motor solonoid

If you can eliminate the clutch pedal switch as the cause then it could be a problem with the starter motor. Or more precisely the starter solenoid which is known to fail after a while. Can you here ... |

Not a gear selector problem Ian. It was finally diagnosed (after a number of red herrings over 2 years!!) as the starter solonoid behaving erratically
