Thanks all. Hoping to balance it so it’s not so vintage that it’s not very safe on the road, and not so new that it is all ECUs. Unsure at which point MX5s drop into the latter bracket.

Went and took another look today in the light. It needed a second clip as a bit of the rubber was deformed. Now not leaking. Not gonna last forever but it’ll do for the time being.

I’ve gone back to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Limited funds meant I took a 2015 model, but the battery is in good health. So much better for the journeys I do.
