FL2 2.2 GS import

Hi everyone,
Well its my 2nd week with my 2.2 GS and its been good so far. Always wanted a FL but could never quite justify one. Test drive in the FL2 and that was it! I could not quite live with the very basic s so went looking for a bargan GS. Found this one..7months old import with 4400km for £19000...seemed like a good deal?

Anyway...anyone else got an import? any issues with here? any way to change the computer to mpg???

Cheers!
Dave2

Hi Dave, welcome,
I guess it's an easy job for a dealer to turn your onboard computer to mpg etc. Btw, is it a RHD, where was the import from?

Thanks for the welcome Defkalion Smile
It was imported from Malta, it is UK spec in all except the computer and trip.
I,m guessing the LR dealers will not welcome an import with open arms and may want to charge a little for the software change....will look for an independant dealer first I think!

Dave, there is something I do not understand.

Have a look here:

http://www.landrover.com.mt/int/en/Vehicle...ander2.asp

A FL2 GS costs in Malta 22885 LM. This is about 37550 £ Shocked

How can they import a car from overthere and sell it a reasonable price in the UK ?

Yes but the Maltese price is on the road, tax paid. The car will have been brought back into the UK tax free = much cheaper than a UK market car. A few years ago it was quite common for UK citizens to go to Holand, Belgium or Denmark to buy new cars as the pre-tax prices were a lot lower than in the UK. And it is the pretax price that the UK local tax is based on. Of course if you have driven it into the UK having used it in Europe for 6 months then it becomes a 2nd hand car and has even less tax on it. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen

I'm aware of that Tim but I assume the first owner of the car has paid the total price (incl.taxes). So if he sold his car to someone in the U.K. he must have lost a lot ?
(Unless it was an unregistered dealer car )

I am not 100% sure how it works...the dealer in Malta has stamped the servcie book but the first registered owner is in the UK, I am the second.
The car was orininally sold (and I guess imported) by a local company to me (http://www.allbrandsnew.co.uk/) then taken back in exchange for another. This compant and its sister company next door (www.motordepot.co.uk) are famous for best prices in the UK.

Hi Paul,
As there seems to be some confusion around how this imorting thing works I will endevour to find out.
The GS was first registered in the UK to a lady in the south, arguably worst than being abused by xx test pilots.
The same suppling company are advertising new 2.2 XS auto for <£25k, £4300 saving!

Dave don't forget that all Land Rover's are covered by worldwide warranty, hence any software updates necessary for your car should be free. It's not your fault, it's LR's!
